Me, but with laundry piles. And then I complain that I don’t know where any of my clothes are. Yeah, because they’re in about 10 different piles and baskets in 3 different rooms.

I think most of Europe has places that can accommodate that, especially if you travel outside of big cities. I’d put more of my budget into a place to stay and slightly less into food, but that’s my personal preference, and I’ve found tons of meals out for a lot less than that. I don’t think we spent more than maybe 40 euros for a meal for two anywhere in Spain, including wine/beer, and many were more like 25. Even Berlin and Munich were pretty reasonable and we made up the difference by going to Aldi for some of our breakfast/dinner food.
What would you consider a low price level? My mom and I have been to a lot of places that aren’t traditionally known as cheap, but we usually stay in places with a kitchen (aparthotels, mainly, we avoid airbnb) and grocery shop so we spend far less on food than a lot of people would. We also travel outside of peak season, primarily to avoid the crowds but it’s also less expensive.
I’ve used it in to turn into my driveway when there are other cars around because some of my neighbors and most of the delivery drivers drive like total dicks and can’t seem to figure out why someone would slow down in a neighborhood.
I’m pretty sure all the people who deal with imports have to be on the verge of a mental breakdown. What a nightmare. Policy made by a petty, stupid tyrant based on apparently nothing but vibes and changing as often as he shits his diaper is no way to run a country, but here we are.
I started using Dreaming Spanish which hasn’t collected anything but an email and the amount of time I’ve spent watching videos but I’m not sure if there’s an equivalent for Danish. If there is, it seems ok so far.
Yes, but as someone who is unfortunately related to dozens of Trump supporters, many of them are also dumb. A couple of them are just raging bigots who are happy to buy into the lie, but a lot of them are objectively not very smart. I could tell from a pretty young age, well before politics entered the picture, and my family isn’t unique. My cousins married people from similar families and had kids that are also kind of dumb.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with being dumb. There are plenty of people who do just fine and are kind, decent humans. But Republicans saw the less intelligent as a target, and that echo chamber is a lot more effective when you don’t have critical thinking skills. Fighting against it feels impossible because logic and facts don’t really make a dent.
I should’ve said I have zero faith in the wealthy to actually do anything useful. I just figure if things get too bad and their investments start losing significant value, some of them might speak up out of pure self-interest. Snapping up properties dirt cheap is only worthwhile if someone can afford to live there.
The only real hope seems like enough wealthy people realizing that they need the poors to spend money to keep their investments valuable and nobody is going to do that if they can’t afford anything. Everyone knows Republicans won’t be convinced by the suffering of their constituents, but they’re usual open to bribes.
You know, I’ve developed a twitch in my left eye the last week or so, and I feel like every day, I see more reasons why that might be.
My friend just moved back to the US after living in Red Deer for several years. I’ve heard all about it. I thought she was crazy to give up permanent residency, but if that was her whole experience with Canada (plus her cheating scumbag ex husband), I kind of get it.
But, much like Texas, there are also a lot of decent people in Alberta who deserve better, so hopefully things work out alright.
I’m not Canadian, but everything I’ve seen about this woman makes me think she’s a stupid, hateful bitch. It seems like her bs, and PP’s, is backfiring in light of how horrifyingly dumb and awful the Trump administration is, so I’ll keep crossing my fingers that the election goes well.
If we didn’t have however many billions it is now of people, I’d be all about returning to that hunter gatherer life. Would it be really fucking hard? For sure. Would people die of dumb stuff? Ok maybe we keep like, antibiotics. But I bet cavemen never sat around like, “why am I even continuing to exist in this neverending capitalist nightmare?” They probably didn’t wake up at 3 am every night for weeks because the dread overcame their exhaustion. I will join you in the bog.
My dad drove an 86 Nissan 720 when I was a kid that looked exactly like the second small truck and I would kill for a modern version. I usually stick stuff in the back of my RAV4 and that mostly works, but there are times I need an open bed and have to rent a pickup. Give the people what they want! Baby trucks!
Same. Like, damn, I’m a queer leftist woman who takes an SSRI. This administration wants me in a camp for sure and I would happily change nationalities if it were possible. I’m rooting for the Canadians (and the rest of the world that isn’t insane), except PP and his ilk.
Mine’s about 14lbs, so delivery people usually just laugh at her. I always pick her up or otherwise restrain her before opening the door, though. Regardless of size, it wouldn’t be cute if she bit someone’s ankle.
My dog definitely disagrees with that. She would prefer if no one outside of our house existed or at least never walked anywhere within about a 3 house radius because that’s obviously intended to be disrespectful to her. We’ve tried to train her to stop, but she’s a very vocal breed and we kind of knew what we were getting into.
You know nothing about me. I haven’t eaten meat since 1995 and I’ve been fully vegan for several years. I’ve been sharing information with people about the realities of factory farming and our current food system for literal decades. I know for a fact that way more than one person has changed their diet as a direct result of those conversations.
But when ICE is rounding people up down the street, and trans people are in my office trying to get passports and telling me they’re afraid they’re going to end up in prison and forcibly detransitioned, and my mom came home livid because some racist old fuck cornered her coworker in an elevator and demanded to know where she was from and she’s terrified because her cousin was “deported” and no one has heard from her in a week, forgive me if conversations about veganism are not my priority right now. You know who can’t be convinced to change their habits? People who are dead or in prison camps or who don’t get a choice because their diet is “whatever the food bank has this week.”
Conservatives don’t fight like this - they say they feel some type of way and then they go and vote for the person with an R no matter what. Meanwhile, liberals and leftists will hold out for a perfect candidate, fight over everything, and then turn around and act shocked when our garbage electoral system doesn’t work out in our favor.
I’m not blaming it on vegans. I’ve been vegan for years. I think more people should try it. I’m blaming it on the fact that people can’t shut up about stuff like what we’re eating long enough to be effective. Right now, there are an awful lot more people than usual in my community seeking out food banks and I don’t give a shit what they eat as long as they’re fed. I’m running a food drive and I don’t care if people bring beef stew all day.
And the people who see the word “vegan” and feel compelled to rush in to shit on the idea are equally at fault. Like, nobody asked you to come in to the conversation and start complaining about how annoying all vegans are. Or worse, posting about it out of nowhere. How is that productive?
How about people eat what they want and we can argue about the moral and environmental ramifications of those choices when we stop living in such interesting times.
To be clear, veganism is not THE issue. It’s one of many leftists can’t seem to stop arguing about long enough to make concrete changes.
Christ, that drives me crazy. It makes me want to stop and say, “well now I’m not doing it at all,” because in my heart, I’m a child.
