I joined yesterday and there were so many pictures of Luigi. He seems to have a lot more life as a meme in china than he does here.

They want to replace posting with AI slop. On Facebook, they’ve noticed that even really lame and obvious AI stuff gets lots of engagement from people who don’t understand it. Since engagement is the only thing they care about, they think they can literally replace content creators and posters with AI and keep people logged on, browsing their own personal slop algorithm, forever. It’s expensive to run AI, but less expensive than paying content creators or moderating / censoring. But they haven’t quite figured out how to make this happen yet, so they’re experimenting with different modes. Maybe the AI pretends to be a person, or maybe something else.

The comments on that article are horrible, and I agree with you about the hypocrisy.

But honestly I don’t think posting random trans guys and being like “do you want this man in the bathroom with your daughter???” is very useful or positive. For one thing, it reinforces the idea that masculine people cannot be trusted around young girls. This idea causes just as much grief for cis men and masc lesbians as it does trans people. Also, the people writing bathroom ban laws do not know or care about trans men. They just want all of the f-slurs to disappear.

Actually the Northeast is like the most condensed part of the country I think. To cross the whole thing it’s like an 8 hour drive, vs way, way more if you go out west. But ya Americans drive a lot and are conditioned to think that it’s normal.

I think the best thing about the northeast is the nature and especially the coast. If you’re going to drive, you should visit the white mountains in NH and maybe do some camping. It’s legal to just camp in the woods for free there.

Coastal Maine is very touristy but nice, Portland is a little city with a surprising amount of stuff, and all the little towns to the north of it are pretty. Acadia National Park is nice solely on the off season when the crowds are less.

I like the Champlain region on Vermont and NY. In a car it’s fun to take the ferry across the lake to Burlington. Also, you can visit John Brown’s original farm house in the Adirondacks nearby, which is imo more interesting than Harper’s ferry.

You could also ditch the car and take the train between cities. The Amtrak goes all the way up to Maine. But this does make it harder to really get into nature.

I don’t think you need to lie to her doctor about your wrist injury. Usually, doctors are slightly more on your side than insurances and will work with you to find something a treatment that is covered.
