3,4 and 5. 1 and 2 require you to not have cell service, which is possible for any device.
hey printf. just wanted to drop in and say its been really cool to follow your Linux journey. I don’t have suggestions for you, but please keep it up.
can I ask: what is it about OpenRC that you like? I personally haven’t tried artix yet (for personal use i’m on arch) so I’m not familiar with the differences.

2·21 days agoIf 90s are old enough for you, Mediterraneo and tre uomini e una gamba are the classics in my family
spent some time last week adding metadata to my mp3 music obtained with yt-dlp. used musicbrainz Picard.
I’m actually really surprised how comprehensive that database is, and how easy it was to manually tag the tracks that didn’t get picked up automatically.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should I go into freelance web development in 2026 in high-cost country?
2·1 month agoif you don’t already have a portfolio, build one. express fundamentals and show off your creativity.
sell yourself as a premium option to overseas competitors. note that by premium i dont necessarily mean “higher quality”. if you show that you have some skin in the game and benefit from their success, rather than treating it as a one-and-done contract, you earn trust and repeat business.
network with those local businesses. people buy goods and services from people they trust. this molds into my second point.
none of this will be easy, but these are fundamentals you can use with any area of business.

136·1 month agosomething I feel is important to note: they added CSAM to the list of things they were searching for in order to gain access to his phone.
when the phone was clean (due to the wipe), they did not follow up on that charge
if they truly believed this person to be in possession of CSAM, a warrant should’ve been issued by now to follow up on that very serious accusation. instead, they go after the destruction of evidence.
because they have nothing on this man, and it was a fabricated excuse to gain access to his phone.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Flock Safety CEO speaks out after LAPD suspends use of company's surveillance cameras
10·1 month agoLAPD suspending their contract gives me hope that this movement is strong enough.
Protesting, showing up to city council, and generally making officials’ lives uncomfortable is the bare minimum, because it works.
MHFU is definitely my favorite too. very fond memories as I’d get together with my friends (who had moved away) once or twice a year to do the big hunts we struggled with on our own.
I also really liked star wars battlefront: (rogue squadron?). was a bit shit to aim with no second stick but I remember the incinerator plus a lock-on killed anything real quick.

13·2 months agofirst off: super useful project.
the two biggest things I can think of are contact list imports and exports. I could see myself adding my immediate family manually. more than that and it becomes a chore rather than a setup.

2·2 months agoClaude is geared more towards enterprise companies, anyway. I think you went over pretty succinctly as to why: they can afford the extra resource burn.
pretty much the way I use AI rght now is similar to how you see the near future of your use.
- AI does first draft
- I review draft, conclude ‘this is shit’
- redo most of it
its pretty useful for getting through writers-block type scenarios sometimes because of that, but past the initial stages of the project the usefulness declines dramatically.
I’m still not seeing any real ways of removing the human in the loop, especially for the review process.

2·2 months agothanks for your writeup. I didn’t read the original but this one was fun to read through.
this looks like an awesome project, and I appreciate how you went over the ways AI helped and hindered your project at the end. its really hard to get honest feedback about AI from devs IRL right now, everyone keeps saying they have silver bullets in their workflows and I feel like the crazy one for not being able to figure it out.
looking forward to giving AC a shot!

in the same way you mention cell towers being able to triangulate a device, you can also be tracked with WiFi APs if you’re connected to or even just searching for a network.
