People have just gone “all in” on Trump. Part of it can probably be explained with “sunk cost” but I think it’s mainly a symptom of people struggling with the confusion and hardship of the modern political/economic landscape. It’s not even unique to the right, tbh. “Blue no matter who” is the same phenomenon, as are people going all-in on idpol or even anarchism or communism. Before anyone gets mad about those last ones, just think of all the ardent reds who know basically nothing about theory (I’m not totally innocent of that characterization myself).

I’ve been voting against fascism since '96 and I keep being told to vote for the lesser of two fascisms instead.

I think the US provides Israel a lot of indulgences. Israel gets things that the US doesn’t have partly because it’s cheaper to provide them to a small state, but more importantly because they have to provide them. It is part of what props up the state of Israel by giving them internal/domestic support.

Nah. I just won’t help bomb civilians at all. I can’t always control whether others help bomb civilians, but I can always control whether I help bomb civilians. Civilian deaths are 99% intentional. They are decided before the bomb is deployed. You will make the bombs knowing they will be used immorally.

But if you look at the actual reality of what happens, those bombs are still used to kill civilians with no repercussions.

You aren’t serious. How tf are you going to “expatriate” someone? Put them in a rowboat and tow them into international waters?

Nothing says you have to believe the same thing everyday, or even moment to moment. Think of your spirituality as kind of story, or a painting, or a song that you sing to yourself. Wouldn’t it be boring to sing the same song every day? There isn’t just one “greatest” song/poem/story/painting because you can’t fit all human experience or emotion into just one of them. I like to treat spirituality this way. Play with your relationship to life’s mysteries. Make an art of it to entertain and comfort yourself.

To be clear, I have some core values that I don’t change, and these inform my politics and how I interact with other people. When it comes to things like death, “the meaning of life”, the origins of the universe etc, I’m most comfortable with fluidity.
