There’s no prefix, so when “the” is used for emphasis it’s completely lost in translation. “The Great Gatsby” is just “Великий Гэтсби”. Though that little ий hides the same complexity as german as it implies male and that this is used in a sentence just to name something. If Gatsby was female it’d be “Великая Гэтсби”, and if it was something ungendered, like a place somewhere, itd be “Великое Гэтсби”. And on that part about placement in the sentence, it could be something like [an achievement of] Великого(male) / Великой(female) Gatsby, like when talking about belongings or actions of someone; Or [I gave something to] Великому/Великой, and a few orhers. As you can see there are duplocates and ambiguities. Add present/past/future tenses to the mix and it becomes a complete mess.

ELI5 version: You know how things glow red when heated up? That takes energy, or, more precisely, that converts heat energy to light. And you know how the color changes the hotter it is? Even before its starts to glow red it actually still glows, pretty much everything does, we just dont see it because it falls outside of visible spectrum, but thermal cameras can and that’s how they work. So, for space question, just take a big plate, and unlike solar panels, point it perpendicular to the sunlight. Run some coolant through it and you’ve got a space chiller. If you look at i.e. ISS photos you’ll see big solar arays at the sides and smaller jagged square panels protruding off the middle and some off the sides, those are exactly it, the so-called “heat rejection units”. Actually while double checking myself I was surprised to learn that they do not run a thermal pump between radiators and everything else, I always thought they did as hotter objects dissipate more energy, but apparently shipping more radiators to orbit was a better tradeoff than constantly wasting energy pumping the heat away.
I cheer when a noname brands and small companies pull this off. Which games are good with multi-monitors? Ive been running triple setup for a while now for productivity, but I cant think of one game that scales well across monitors, though Im generally not into sims/racing and afraid of buying something to spend 2hrs refund period fiddling with settings only to find it wont work aftterall. Which one would you suggest to try?
Fascinating. I thought the signs were a bit more standartized than that. From what I can tell those(red-yellow/white-yellow) are supposed to be the same sign, but with different enough meaning to cause trouble, ie if I were to travel through Sweden and stayed for the night in a hotel with one of those I’d go right in without a second thought. Not a fan of clarification signs though, as in the same scenario I wouldn’t be able to read them, it’s actually one thing I find very annoying riding around caucasus countries that all information signs are not only in different languages, but in different scripts as well.

Because, at least in all ex-ussr countries, that are all supposedly Vienna convention signatories, red circle on white background means no entry but everyone I described in previous message can safely ignore it. It’s to be placed in like factories, residential blocks you dont wanna people to just drive through, during road repairs, in government territories like police stations and courthouses, and on public transit parks like for trolleys and buses. You can safely drive into, but if a cop catches you there, they will ask for credentials to justify you being there. And it’s not uncommon to see trucks on sidewalks and in public parks behind this sign unloading goods to nearby stores, which they are allowed to as long as they’re actually unloading and not just driving through, which is very annoying when they block the entire path.
And for places that are really pedestrians only, most of the time there’s a different sign, with a car facing forwards, with headlights and grill visible, like this. Still allows all the above, minus the “live or work there” caveat, so no normal cars or trucks, plus allows bicycles and horse carriages.
While the red ring and yellow center means “traffic is forbidden” essentially the same thing, with the caveat that you don’t need to expect traffic from the sign either.
IDK about Sweden specifically, but there is most likely a caveat there that if you work or live in an area behind the sign, or you are a public bus/cop/medic/postman/disabled, then you are allowed to go in, hence why two different signs.
To add to other comments, there are empty red circles around, which mean nothing is allowed but different from white bar on red background “no entry” one in that everything is actually allowed if you have a good enough reason to be there.
