I used to live in an apartment complex that was circular, and had a courtyard in the middle of the circle. The mandatory renter’s maintenance payments contributed towards a man with a leaf blower visiting weekly, around this time of year. In 5 years, there needs to be a brave sitcom made about a person just going around and experiencing “normal” things. Set in 2007, “Normal Things” will be the parody that catches the zeitgeist in a way that previous attempts failed.

Instead of being a serious documentary, it will be a serious comedy.

No laugh track, wisecracks or gags.

The sheer absurdity of it will be divisive, many will simply not get it.

But it will be a bold statement on the reality of daily life, winning a Tony for its stage interpretation, and the lead actor becoming a meme in the format of the new little stickers (that move!) smartphone chat apps let you attach in response to messages.
