  • I generally agree “both sides” is a shitty argument, but thinking democrats are going to save us is naive. Time and again they have shown us who bought their vote, while ignoring those who voted for them. They will happily take your money and smile while mitigating any real impact you could have on the status quo.

The reality is both parties are beholden to their wealthy donors over the needs of the average American.

The right exists to ratchet us to the right toward fascism, and the corporate Democrats are there to make sure things don’t shift too far left when Republicans lose power. Notice how democrats stopped taking about universal Healthcare and spent 0 air time talking about the needs of the average American in the 2024 election? Much easier to push the most regressive antiimmigration legislation they’ve ever pushed, basically giving Republicans the groundwork for the shit we see today. I say democrats but it’s not Progressives that run the party, money backs the corporate Dems.

Money has poisoned our political system and until we do away with money in elections we will have a broken system that serves only those with lots of money.

  • The Democratic party broke the Democratic party by letting the mask slip and showing that when push comes to shove, the Corporate Democrats find fascism to be just fine with their wealthy benefactors interests.

After years of the party using “this might be the end of democracy” for campaign purposes, their actions show they either don’t care or are actively on board with ending it. In a conflict where monied interests are trying to destroy our nation and rebuild it to solely their interests, is it surprising that those who have fattened themselves with that money are rendered ineffective?

You might even call them the controlled opposition, a failsafe to ensure things don’t shift too far left. I remember how the DNC put their finger on the scales and gave us Biden, and then instead of giving us a choice played games and threw Kamala at us rather than open a primary. But hey the DNC machine made money from donations from people desperate to keep fascism at bay… and the reality of the threat only made them more money.

From my perspective based on their actions in this defining moment, corporate Democrats are not our friends and will choose to enrich themselves instead of fight for us at every self-interested opportunity.

We desperately need to get money out of politics.

  • I remember when Elon Musk was a “good billionaire” friend. In my opinion there are no good billionaires because the pursuit of money to that extent requires exploitation and abuse on a grand scale.

So yeah I don’t give a fuck if he has all the money in the world, I don’t think money should be the deciding factor in elections. I don’t think that any string a billionaire offers is worth it.

If we run a candidate who’s values authentically align with what Dem voters want, why turn down donations?

Because they can tell you all day that they align with your values and then suddenly they don’t. Remember Elon Musk? Tech billionaire, “real life tony stark”, whose electric vehicles were going to usher in a new era of renewable transportation… People lie.

He didn’t say that they could be relied on. He said he’d take their fucking money. Why do you think that’s an unpragmatic strategy?

Because I understand how the world works? That concessions are made in back room deals and that the money doesn’t change hands until the buyer feels confident they are getting what they want? We know how this goes.

I would forego all billionaire donations to ensure the party wasn’t being controlled by back room interests, you know the deals made to get the contribution? They aren’t adhering to campaign finance limits they are drowning out normal Americans with their outside influence.

“Billionaire campaign spending on this scale drowns out the voices and concerns of ordinary Americans. It is one of the most obvious and disturbing consequences of the growth of billionaire fortunes, as well as being a prime indicator that the system regulating campaign finance has collapsed,” said David Kass, ATF’s executive director.

  • Agreed. Remember that corporate Democrats, on the heels of their loss, were grappling with the idea they should have tried to sell out trans people to try to get more republican votes? I remember.

They made a great deal of money though acting like they believed Trump winning was going to be the end of Democracy. I agree he will be, but their actions after the election show me they don’t believe it, or they don’t care because they see their own opportunity there. The fact that they aren’t even trying to gum the works for his cabinet shows how on board they are.

If you were in a position of power watching these events unfold would you be cool helping rubber stamp to enable them? I sure a fuck couldn’t. But our supposed “last bastion of democracy” collectively doesn’t seem to have an issue. Don’t want to rock the boat on the road to our new christofascist state huh?

  • Sure champ. The dnc wasn’t leaning on the scales hillary was just such a good candidate that she lost to Trump. It’s imperative you maintain that ideal otherwise you might come to the realization that you’re part of the problem.

Trump would have likely handed Bernie his ass without breaking a sweat

He had a much better chance than “it’s her turn” Hillary and her baggage. The problem is he actually has a history of helping people and speaks truth to power, contrary to the interests of the DNC and Corporate democrats like ole Hill. He doesn’t bring in that sweet lobbying money from the ultra wealthy, just small donations actually indactive of voter support. It’s why Debbie Wasserman-Shultz was giving Bernie debate questions ahead of time, to help him out… oh right that was Hillary that needed the help… because the dnc chose the candidate they wanted and needed to solidify it by any means.

Either way the reality is the DNC has shown it is incapable of being impartial, and that the whole thing is kabuki nonsense to make you think you have a choice in “choosing” the peice of shit they want you to pick. The DNC is controlled opposition for the wealthy to be able to maintain control on both sides. Not like any sane person is going to vote republican… so they limit options to only the shit sandwich while expecting you to thank them for forcing you to eat it then they bitch when nobody is excited about the shit sandwich.

Then here you are “well of course MY shit sandwich was the only choice and if THEY couldn’t have won, clearly no other sandwich could have come close so stop asking to try another fucking sandwich.” The dishonesty here is just fucking pathetic, but to admit otherwise would be to invite criticism for handing Trump his '16 victory, more so than is already done.

  • I don’t expect that you have all the beliefs that right wing media paints democrats as.

Is it because they are well documented liars?

When Fox News successfully argued in court that no reasonable person would believe the content presented in Tucker Carlson’s production was factual or true, and was instead just entertainment, did that give you pause? Are you a reasonable person? If you’ve believed any of their programming Fox doesn’t think you are.

Or can I assume you don’t know about it because Right Wing media doesn’t cover any deficiencies of the conservative machine unless they’ve gotten out of line, and are instead just fascist cheerleaders willing to say anything for power? Ends justify the means afterall…

  • Are you a Republican?

Tell me friend, do you support:

Child marraige predominantly expressed through older men marrying young girls with whom they can legally rape? (I don’t believe a child can consent, do you?)

Child labor, “the children are our future” but also we should steal their prime growth years so meat packing plants can find more meat for the grinders and not have to pay living wages.

Dissolution of the department of education to kill public education in America

Starving school children of low income families, many of which only get their highest quality meal at school

Unchecked capitalism resulting in an ever widening gap between the ultra rich and the rest of us, such that many are being priced out of any semblance of the lie that is the “American Dream” exploding the number of homeless?

Do you look down on the unhoused as just lazy entitled people who would surely squander any support on drugs, rather than your fellow Americans who are suffering hard times, mental illness, or both?

What about just flat out lawlessness, where one party is disinterested in enforcing laws against their party members and make threats of violence and civil war against any attempts by others to fairly apply the law? And instead they indicate an eagerness to lock up their political enemies despite being unable to bring any evidence of crimes?

Genuinely curious because you seem to be able to understand the current reality, but you cling to an ideal that i would guess has left you behind long ago.
