So do I and not all of them do. The older ones more likely to. Younger ones much less likely to. But thats not really the point. The Act has a lot of paternalistic elements.

The Indian Act reinforces a number of prejudices and injustices (including the name itself). Today Indigenous have a long court precedent to lean on to protect their treaty rights. Some Indigenous believe the time is right to lean more on the latter (courts) than the former (the act).

The corruption isn’t just Bibi he just champions it. But true overall point.

Because the US hubris led to a point where they literally believed no one would fight back. Venezuela fueled that psychosis too sadly.

You say he isn’t pro worker until I show he is, then you hand wave and say its all performance so doesn’t count. Take off bud. You are just another NDP disparager like the long line of them since I have been following politics (since long before Layton btw).
As for saying saying to another company is better than nationalization, I would say that really depends on a lot of things. We just sold to these guys and they turned out to be anti trust. UK just nationalized their steel and they are deeply pro capitapist. I think you just dont like progressivism or socialism.

Good. Its a travesty he is there. US is causing serious rot in the international order.

US signatures are signed in pencil as was fairly put by Carney, and noticed by the world.
Are you forgetting he signed the last one?

Lewis pushing for nationalization of Stelco to save jobs. And in this case we have admission from the owner it was bought because it was too efficient and was undercutting their own production. So nationalization in this case is a good idea, of a profitable industry important for national security. No other party is pushing for such protection of these jobs. The Liberals are not stopping those losses from happening and law suits against the owners is a slow step. Nationalize like the UK did to steel very recently.

While all those points are fair the real reason is major players in Europe do not want to water down EU laws and associate membership implied canada would get some of the benefits without the legal obligations which EU fairly is realizing wont work. Canada would need to pursue a Norway- or Switzerland- like deal that gives up on some sovereignty but canadians are not too warm to that idea either. In the end it will probably just mean more trade agreements and not much more.

The Take wasnt about unions. It was about workers cooperatives, which he also advocates for. Not sure you properly read my post or maybe you dont know what workers cooperatives are. Creating more space for alternatives to anti-worker corporations is a good thing.
He was a CBC journalist about 20 years ago. Hes also been a professor and community activist for longer. Not an impressive critique.
Edit: just yesterday the NDP pushed forward a right to strike bill which the liberals and conservatives voted against. This is explicitly pro worker as its through general assembly and strikes we won most of our labour rights.

Huh???
I met him in 2007 when he was repping the Take, which is a film explicitly highlighting worker ownership and inspired me to co-found a workers cooperative. He has authored dozens of works promoting workers rights since them. And now he has a platform dedicated to protecting workers in a digital economy, which is absolutely a good thing, and has worked for decades to expand union rights.
No NDP leader (or any political leader) has as long a pro worker track sheet as Lewis and he has made it central to his campaign.
Makes me wonder where you are coming from. Were you unaware of the above perhaps?

Lewis is a brand new leader. What drives you to disparage so unnecessarily. Ive been following this party since BEFORE layton. Lewis is the first to really focus on these topics. Which makes me question your motives.

I voted for Layton too and met him and Olivia multiple times in the early days. He was amazing. But check his record during the Dion days. He was more of a centrist than you remember perhaps. He was on the frontlines with unions but voted to make deals with neoliberals. He was winning us over because he was the first genuine attempt at a progressive alternative. But in his time leading the party he did very little to push worker friendly deals. I get it why. That wasnt his job. But its Lewis’.

As we try to make deals with EU and ASEAN this is not true. The US is in a USSR style collapse. That does not mean the rest of the world is.

Okay but thats not who they just elected. You dont seen to be discussing in good faith to be honest.

And amazing in my related work to see CEOs far more unlikely to properly understand genai and their limitations. Its as if we somehow got the dumbest people to lead all industries. They sell and sell well which also explains why they are often sociopathic. But its not a good thing. Being good at selling does not seem to correlate with basic intelligence. All the warnings about the limits of GenAI are right there.
I thinks its because llms let CEOs smell their own farts and they love it. LLMs are sycophantic and please the idiots no matter what they say.

The caucus just elected the most pro worker leader since its founding.

He said he had to buy it as his steel was getting uncompetive. Selling at a loss exposes us to WTO and future partners will be hesitant. By simply producing steel ourselves at market rates it was already going to put him out of business.
Thanks! Fabulous summary that makes it easy for me to reply even without giving a video views. Also some of us are neurally wired to have tabs of information steams coming and a video blocks that. Ahah.
Y2K is an interesting comparison. I remember everyone infecting the moment when it was no big deal. Meanwhile jurisdictions the world over are ditching it and that makes BC by no means alone or without examples to show it will be fine.
For me it was a quote I forgot the origin: why did we change time to match factory work hours when we could have changed factory work hours to match time. Answer is a tale as old as time.
