Eastward is one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. My only significant criticism is that I spent most of the game looking forward to how all the loose ends to the story would be explained and tied together and then it just ended without that really happening.

I had a lot more trouble with Maniac Mansion than DotT, I always got all my characters thrown in the dungeon. My favorite thing about it, at least the version on Weird Ed Edison’s computer, was that it played music using the pc speaker, which is now a concept lost to time.

I login to lemmy often enough that I would notice. Lemmy grew a lot overnight the last time reddit pissed off a lot of their userbase with one decision. There’s good and bad to that, it was nice to see this place grow, but it became much less friendly when redditors flocked here. I’d expect more of that.

I’ve started playing a game called Yaoling, which is a monster taming/collecting game. The battling system is much more like Yo-Kai Watch than Pokémon - you’re not really bossing them around, they kind of do their own thing once you’ve made preparations and started.

Absolutely spectacular gameplay so far, I’m really impressed. Love the artwork and monster designs. It’s in early access right now and it warns you to expect some bugs, but other than a lot of typos in the English translation I’ve only come across a couple minor issues. Official release planned for mid-July I think.

I played this as a kid. I loved the game except for the fights. I would press ‘0’ to sucker punch every time. I don’t even know what Indy Quotient is, why should I care about it going down?

It’s kind of amazing that I haven’t really thought about Woody Woodpecker since watching the cartoons as a kid and the animation doesn’t look familiar at all other than yeah that’s the right colors, but I could hear the laugh in my head immediately on seeing the name, without having to play the audio.

Definitely a joke, I’m having trouble imagining a person who could believe this in earnest, let alone enough to say it out loud. I’m even having trouble accepting that you can imagine that a person would say this with no sarcasm. No one actually believes that.

This essay resonates with me, thanks for sharing, the author makes her points pretty effectively. I’m not a historian and I don’t know shit, but I think even if I give the critics the concession that everything is absolute rubbish, I still think there’s no convincing argument that the beliefs are dishonest or malicious or not genuine.

There’s so much bullshit and conflicting views about literally every historical event that I find it really hard to penetrate the context of the discussion and feel confident in anything, but I think the fact that I keep seeing people who hold “tankie” opinions dismissed as malicious propagandists pushes me very strongly towards feeling that the critics have not made any attempt to seriously engage with the ideas they’re fighting against.

I think the realization I’m coming to now is that when part of your ideology is that people who claim belief in a specific conflicting worldview can be dismissed as bots or propagandists, finding out that those people aren’t manufactured makes it a lot harder to take everything else you’ve said seriously.

On the other hand, the guy you’re replying to is correct that the author’s points fall completely flat and are ridiculous once you hunt down that specific paragraph and remove the context immediately before and after. Then it becomes obvious to an unbiased reader that the author actually ignored communist death tolls because it was inconvenient for her argument.

I recently started pc gaming again, I had played some switch and ds stuff but the last time I had gamed on pc was almost twenty years ago. Even given that I’m focusing on 2d games, I thought there would be a lot more hiccups trying to run windows games on a machine with intel integrated graphics. I like indie games much better in general nowadays, I’m not even going to worry about what I’m missing without buying a graphics card.

I’m going to ignore the implication that “being noble on Gaza” is actually more risky for him and just assume that’s true. What the fuck kind of question is this?? Biden should absolutely change course to being noble on Gaza. Yes it is worth the risk, arguing that he shouldn’t take that risk is saying you’re okay with continuing to sacrifice Palestinian lives over the coming months if it means a better chance of beating Trump and saving them from a theoretical worse fate.

Sure, there’s a chance Biden will lose the election anyway, but I’m sure they’re capable of understanding how necessary their sacrifice was. I actually kind of hope that you’re one of the people who thinks we all should support Israel and that you’re making a bad attempt to play sympathetic here, because this this is an absolutely ludicrous contortion to justify continuing to fund a genocide.

No one makes the decision to continue funding the destruction of a people out of concern for what those people might go through if you don’t. Total horseshit.
