Nah, this moment only sucks for the central leftist parties. Both Bildu and the BNG are the strongest they have ever been.
Change in Spain will only come from a federalist coalition of leftist parties.

If IU didnt exist*
Well, more like “the leftists in a party within a party within the goverment coalition”.
Still good tho.
Hey! Stop ignoring us galician nationalists!! :C
I hate it when they only mention Bildu or ERC, BNG is the main opposition in Galicia (because podemos and sumar imploded and PSOE keeps doing nothing, just like in the Madrid Community).
Well, yeah, but some soc-lib would rather lose power (Kamala, Macro, Starmer apparently) than do what he does.
Pundits (including government pundits) are already saying:
-How this is actually pointless because the genocide will continue.
-The minority left wing parties who pushed this are irresponsible, might eventually collapse the goverment and surrend it to the right wing and the far right.
-Actually this is worse because now our police won’t have the bullets and the fine the goverment will have to pay will be even higher (nevermind simply no paying xd).
-“See? Pdr Snchz takes the genocide seriously! Stop complaining over nothing”, which is fun since this has only happened due to left wing pressure.
Pedro Sánchez once again being the only soc-lib european leader who occasionally throws a bone to the left.
I honestly doubt Sumar or even Podemos would have collapsed the government. I could see however IU collapsing Sumar due to this issue.
Some of these farmers protests are legit, but others are rich landowners complaining that they have to pay 1% more taxes or do more bureaucracy. I’m spanish, “the farmers” also got pissy when the milquetoast socdem government said that there would be slighly more labour inspections. God forbids someone asks them why there are so many undocumented migrants working like slaves.
Nah.
Spain gets a what? What are you even talking about??
That “pass” (if it even exists) is because current Spain is nowhere near as relevant as France, US or the UK in the world stage. Also lmao at saying Spain is more fascists than any of them.
Not really having anything to do with this post, but Sanchez is what Starmer or Macron wish they were: a politician with insane luck, good instincts and able to somehow juggle a parliament with multiple parties while pissing off all of them but not enough to have his goverment taken down.
Well, yes and no.
Podemos split/got partially absorbed a few years ago into Sumar and the current Podemos. Sumar is currently the minority party in government and they suck, they are terrible at reading the room and don’t realize how much they are pissing off/dissappointing every leftist in the country by being a cross between Ned Flanders and Ted Lasso.
Is the current Podemos better than them? Yes, obviously. Much much better and Ione is an ok leader.
BUT, Podemos was the minoritarian party during the previous Sanchez government (got replaced by Sumar) and they really seem to want you to forget it. It doesn’t matter how much they laud the palestinian or the saharaui causes if they did nothing to help them when they were in government (and no, i don’t care that they didn’t hold the foreign affairs office).
Tldr: the statement is good and refreshing, but it’s fundamentally being used by Podemos to distance themselves from PSOE and Sumar, if they were in government (as the inority party) their position would be the same as the current government.
Not really sure, i’d say they are more or less as left as Bildu. Their current campaign against Altri has been a huge success in terms of engagement.
