I have seem similar thread on Reddit, this answer I liked the most.
Hello can you hear me? Oh wait, wrong planet, sorry
Is the gist of it.

Don’t know if this bug is reported upstream or not.
My default listing is “subscribed”, if I go to “Top All” and click next page button, I get “Top Sucscribed, page 2”. (my current listing doesn’t last)
I browse lemmy in these orders:
Communities I subscribed, sort by new.
Active All, I’ve blocked a few meme communities so I don’t see them much.
Top 6 hours All.
Top 1 hour All.
I think “Feeling good” is in this category.
Or use something like KeePassXC that uses a database file, no internet required (other than downloading software).
I can confirm Connect for Lemmy (Android) can search in post and comments.
Imagine you have Permission to post as axzxc1236@lemmy.world
as an object that is locked in a safe deposit box, the key is JWT token
.
The key, by how it works, can be obtained by (1) knowing axzxc1236@lemmy.world’s password (+2FA token if configured) (2) have a copy of the token (3) somehow cheat lemmy.world’s authentication scheme (by somehow skipping authentication or acquiring magic tool to generate random token … etc).
What happened today is scenario (2), by a single line of JavaScript planted by hacker, and if you have access to my unlocked desktop computer, you can see and copy the key by using F12 (developer tool).
Scenario (2) can be mitigated by tying the sending computer IP to JWT token
, but as far as I can tell lemmy.world doesn’t have the option, and most of people get random new IP address every now and then because how Internet currently operates, so this feature can be very annoying.
now introduce Permission to post PGP signed message as axzxc1236@lemmy.world
as an object that is locked in a safe deposit box, this deposit box has two key slot (like a bank deposit box), JWT token
and PGP private key
.
This PGP private key
doesn’t have to sit in your browser, it can be on a burner phone which it’s only purpose is a APP for signing message, it can be on a USB thumb drive that is stored in your parent’s basement, or usb thumb drive that sits in bank deposit box which requires a bank employee to authenticate your ID to access…
No one store their PGP private key in cookies, at least I hope so.
Ideally someone wants to send signed message doesn’t store the signing key in their browser, sandbox their browser even.
There was a thread that asks the same question (which I can’t find… somebody paste the link pls):
You can observe lemmy’s database schema on Github.
This links to current (as this comment) version of “local_user” table.
Reasons I can think of:
The official Android client for lemmy, Jerboa, only supports 0.18 and later, unless users download older version from github and sideload manually.
Sorting is broken pre 0.18, new posts keeps flowing in.
Performance improvement by removing web socket from lemmy. (which fixes 2, which is why 1. happens)
But if everyone can access this feature someone will inevitably do a DDoS.
And community list will be a mess.
On desktop version of website, once you clicked into the community you can click subscribe button on the right side.
On mobile I see it after I click “Sidebar” button.
Go to https://lemmy.world/communities/listing_type/All/page/1
This page lists communities from other lemmy/kbin servers that federates with the server you use. (server list available in https://lemmy.world/instances)
If you know other community’s url from other server (e.g. https://lemmy.ml/c/asklemmy), copy and paste that to search function and you can browse that community without registering an account on other lemmy/kbin server.
Currently beehaw.org has de-federated with lemmy.world, that means if you paste a community from beehaw.org, the search function might (1) find the community but you won’t see new posts and your posts and comments won’t show up on beehaw server (2) doesn’t find that community.
AbruptChaos content which I sometimes do feel terrible for laughing.
You can bet stocks like SpaceX will sky rocket in price, since people know there are aliens on other planet now, not just conspiracy or theory.
