Pop_OS has fallen behind on updates over the past couple years with their development team focused on their Cosmic DE. I’m sure it’ll catch up later, but Pop definitely isn’t in a state I could recommend to anyone right now.
Mint is a very solid choice, but just to throw another idea out there if you’re interested in out of the box Nvidia drivers, I’ve heard good things about Nobara. You can kind of think of it being to Fedora what Pop_OS was to Ubuntu. A solid base with some of the more finicky packages preinstalled.

One of my clients at work has this IT guy with a furry profile picture on Zoom.
I assumed it was a mistake, people join with dumb pictures/names sometimes, but no. He never changed it in any of our meetings.
And then I looked at his account in our software, which allows users to upload their own photo, and he put a different furry picture there. A strictly work related account, that only his coworkers and us can see.
And you know what, I respect it.
The extent of my Digimon knowledge is this animation and OP’s image.
Do… Do digimon just transform into women? is that an actual thing in the show?
I will not google this question.
I occasionally think back to Rocket League, which I loved in its earlier days. I put close to 100 hours into it, which is a lot for one game for me. Then they added lootboxes, leaned harder into the competitive space, and just completely sucked the soul out of it. And yet it’s still hugely popular.
I just don’t get it.
I’m so torn about stories like this and GTA online. Because on one hand, people play these games, and people won’t switch to Linux if they can’t play them.
But on the other hand, I just cannot give a single fuck about live service trash like this. I struggle to understand how people play games products like these, and I absolutely don’t understand why anyone would waste their time cheating in them. And yet they’re absurdly popular.
Despite gaming being such a big hobby for me, I feel so disconnected from what the average gamer values.
Better Living Through Chemistry is so fucking good
Yeah, I think that’s definitely one of the roadblocks Lemmy is facing at the moment. Even though I deleted my Reddit account after the API nonsense, I’m absolutely still appending every DDG or Startpage search with “reddit.” Especially with the flood of AI-generated garbage filling search results, it’s the easiest way to get quick answers from (probably) real people.
However, that also relates to Reddit’s other advantage, in that it actually has a decade and a half of content to be indexed in the first place. The magic of Reddit is that every question has been asked in every way at least 5 times over, Lemmy just doesn’t have that history yet.
The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 had a massive impact on my taste in music.
Need for Speed was that series for me. Pendulum, Justice, The Qemists, Junkie XL, Hyper, Madeon, Feed Me, Nine Inch Nails, Celldweller, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Noisia, Haezer… Man NFS had some killer soundtracks.
I’ve always wondered what the hell these people do with all that space. I live in a 700sqft apartment and even that feels excessive (albeit living alone). If I had unlimited money and owned that mansion, I’d run out of ideas before making use of even 25% of the building.
Can I get an unsweetened iced imperialism with lemon?
My first job was in a grocery store deli, and let me tell you that is the worst job to have if your mental health sucks. My last few months there were spent hoping to get hit by a bus so I didn’t have to go to work. My last two weeks were the worst two weeks of my life. The customers I dealt with were some of the meanest people I’ve ever interacted with, all over a $7 bag of gross fried chicken and pasta salad.
This was a several years ago, I have since gotten a job in IT that doesn’t make me want to die, but this reminded me of one of few funny stories from my time in the deli:
Remember that They are incapable of reading signs in human languages.
We had a Lemon Capellini salad available. Capellini. Big sign in front of it, can’t miss it. Pronounced exactly how it looks. Capellini.
More than half of the people who ordered it could not say that word. A lot of people would stumble through the first two syllables and give up. Some people would throw in some extra letters and create a new word on the spot. Most people avoided saying the word entirely (“lemon salad”). At least one person asked for “lemon speghetti,” and I think I had two or three people ask me how it’s pronounced.
Capellini.
Well now I want a story about an ace cowboy woman
I haven’t had a chance to try the demo yet, but Old School Rally looks stellar.
This is a topic people get really defensive about and I’ve never understood why. If you look at a discussion thread about the oil industry, everyone is in agreement that the world needs to reduce its dependency on oil and people seem open to changing their own habits to help with that (to an extent and where possible). Same with energy generation, most people are happy that solar and wind power generation is becoming more widely used, and even opinions on nuclear energy plants seem to be shifting to a more positive light.
And then there’s the meat industry, awful from a moral standpoint and detrimental from an environmental sustainability standpoint, and this is the topic where people are suddenly “wElL tOO bAd I’M sTiLL EaTiNg sTEak EveRY dAY.”
I do not get it. Like I’m not vegan, but I’ve still cut out almost all meat from my diet and will happily try out or switch to totally vegan options when possible. Vegans are right about this, even if some of them are assholes about it. I’m not going to defend my non-vegan choices in my diet, sometimes I’m just lazy, but I still try to be better because it’s the right thing to do.
Genuinely curious why this topic riles people up so much if anyone has an answer.
Cellar spiders are goofy as hell and I love them.
how dare you give me a meme idea and make me get out of bed to make it
lol, maybe -> would’ve come across better
definitely not greater than
