The U.S. was never a democracy to begin with. The Constitution decreed that only rich white males had the vote. Excluding a majority of the population makes it an oligarchy, not a democracy.

The 1st American Civil War never ended, it just went cold for a few decades. It started heating up again with Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”, and has just been getting hotter ever since.

I will be shocked to hear anything other than a steady litany of I cannot recall at the trials.
