What law gives the Department of Public Safety the right to force Texas state representatives to accept a police escort? What about detaining them in the congressional building? Who said she could sleep in her office? On who’s authority?

The article does not mention what entity or law is compelling them to stay? Are we really at “might makes right” in the Texas Senate?
