What ZigBee Coordinator do you use? I know deconz and zigbee2mqtt have the ability to add support for new devices via config files. But that’s a bit of a rabbit hole into the ZigBee protocol. They also have forums/issue trackers where one can request support for new devices.
But that’s the neat thing: the system is well structured into different layers and subcomponents. They are not all involved to control lightbulbs; that’s mostly your local hue bridge. One component will make sure, Alexa can control your bulbs (if you want that). If that component fails, only Alexa stops working. Another component handles push notifications to your mobile devices. If that fails, the rest is unimpacted. And so on.
That was, for a long time, the main reason I heavily recommended Hue: the bridge can be used completely offline and still offered a good local API and pairing system. Unfortunately last year that made online accounts a requirement. I assume besides the App you can still use many things even if your network connection is broken, though.
What’s wrong with that? Do you expect their backend to run off a single server with a little PHP script? The components seem pretty reasonable (with the actual business logic being just a small part).
It wasn’t worse to begin with. I just wanted to add that this doesn’t have to be intentional and can still happen, due to bias or whatever.
The problem is, that it doesn’t even have to be “evil”. Most people make assumptions. If you notice or suspect a question carrying an assumption, I think it’s the right thing to clear things up. A yes or no is simply not enough if the whole premise of the question might be flawed.
That always makes me angry in court scenes in TV, although there it’s likely intentional and therefore your mentioned “evil question”. I hope that shit doesn’t fly in real courtrooms.

That’s not a time, that’s an event. The event can happen at a specific time, but you only know that time after the fact. So you want the assistant to react to an event, which it apparently doesn’t support.
The demo scene still exists and they still produce mind blowing stuff.
I still remember “playing” .kkrieger, a 3d shooter fitting in a fucking 64kb exe. It did use quite a bit of RAM though.
I am happy to read that there are still game devs around that give a fuck about optimizing their code. I am so sick of that whole “hardware is cheap” excuse for wasting resources.
Thinking about it… it’s probably more prevalent in game dev in general than in application software dev. But I digress.

I for one am glad you take your time. I jumped ship from another instance that upgraded to 0.19 back in december and was almost unusable far into january. It’s now on 0.19.3 and while federation seems to work again, it’s still quite slow and unstable.
Thankfully I didn’t need high precision realtime. I just needed to wait a few seconds for serial comm.
On microcontrollers that might be a valid approach.
