I’m curious, what’s the argument against it?

I’m curious, what’s the argument against it?
I figured it was “global climate at 9+ billion population”, ie everything is on fire

Not to kinkshame, but… sex literally on the toilet? 🤢
This case is the exception, not the norm

One of the few good uses for AI, to generate photos or video of the device with the cord cut

I don’t trust AI companies to not alter the texts of those books if there’s something in them that does not align with their worldview.
So any book added to the online archive(s) by these companies is suspect.

Server infrastructure is currently bottlenecked, see the price of RAM and storage which is a direct consequence of the AI craze.
Building new data centers is not easy from a hardware perspective, not to mention permits, electrical/connectivity infrastructure, staffing and so on.
We can only hope…

Or, you know, this is the first step with the final goal of killing off social media entirely.
One can dream…

Let’s keep setting good precedents!

Which is why this is one area where the EU needs to provide some framework/structure. To avoid Ireland situations as well.

Biscoff butter is great. Absolutely horrendously unhealthy IIRC, but tastes great.
Also, there are so many chocolate spreads out there that are a hundred times better than Nutella nowadays, don’t sell your palate short!

For the people out there, who, like me, started wondering too, this is quoted from the readme:
“git” can mean anything, depending on your mood.
- random three-letter combination that is pronounceable, and not actually used by any common UNIX command. The fact that it is a mispronounciation of “get” may or may not be relevant.
- stupid. contemptible and despicable. simple. Take your pick from the dictionary of slang.
- “global information tracker”: you’re in a good mood, and it actually works for you. Angels sing, and a light suddenly fills the room.
- “goddamn idiotic truckload of sh*t”: when it breaks

There’s a pretty massive difference in scale and impact here…

And you can’t have this with open standards…?

The question is whether they have the same iron grip, or if they would eventually fall

Eh, at least you can get paid very well in Switzerland. The amount of money I was saving every month working there was more than I could expect after tax in parts of the EU…

Do… do rocks just spontaneously appear in the ground in his world? Like how people used to think frogs came into being
I’m in Europe. I still remember my dad calling me on the landline after school, telling me to “turn on the TV and have fun”. To this day I don’t understand why he added the “have fun” part…
