One of my High School teachers told me that when someone asked him for directions and he didn’t know the way he’d just make something up because it made the person so happy and he liked how they smiled at him, all trusting.
What does it say that he was a teacher. Also: What does it say about me that he was my favorite teacher?
So funny that he didn’t see the logic at hiding his misogynistic world view. The point, i guess, was not to school you on logic but to test how much crap you’d put up with.
I hope he actually took a moment or two of self reflection and understands that he himself was not displaying much logic in the relationship. Who knows, maybe he’ll even question one or two of his misogynistic beliefs.
I’m sorry you had to put up with that but at least you’ve learned what to look out for.
Or they are just looking for a repository for their negative feelings. Their own personal dumping ground, if you will. It’s great that these men (and it’s not just men) expose themselves with flat footed negging early on.
Is this what passes for satire nowadays?
You want to buy a mattress encasement AND a box spring encasement to cover both. An encasement surrounds and seals in the mattress/ boxspring. A topper just covers the top.
Make sure you buy the correct size (too loose is less helpful). If you have a futon, buy an encasement specifically for a futon.
I literally just figured out what the meme was about by your comment. I thought people were annoyed by Elmo’s voice lol.
I have to admit that’s a nice stick. I thought he was joking but it’s actually perfect. Like, platonic ideal of a stick.
Every accusation is a confession.
An Alabama woman was imprisoned for endangering her fetus. She gave birth in a jail shower
But over the next seven months of incarceration for “chemical endangerment” in the Etowah county detention center (ECDC), Caswell was denied regular access to prenatal visits, even as officials were aware her pregnancy was high-risk due to her hypertension and abnormal pap smears, according to a lawsuit filed on Friday against the county and the sheriff’s department. She was also denied her prescribed psychiatric medication and slept on a thin mat on the concrete floor of the detention center for her entire pregnancy.
In October, when her water broke and she pleaded to be taken to a hospital, her lawyer says, officials told her to “sleep it off” and “wait until Monday” to deliver – two days away.
During nearly 12 hours of labor, staff gave her only Tylenol for her pain, the suit says, allegedly telling her to “stop screaming”, to “deal with the pain” and that she was “not in full labor”. Caswell lost amniotic fluid and blood and was alone and standing up in a jail shower when she ultimately delivered her child, according to the complaint and her medical records. She nearly bled to death, her lawyers say.
So, jailed for endangering a fetus but not given prenatal care while in jail and forced to give birth in a jail shower when her labor signs were ignored - all of which actually endangers the fetus they are so concerned about. They don’t care about the fetus, they just hate women and want to punish them for having sex. It couldn’t be clearer.
His Democrat opponent did release research about Santos but basically most news orgs, esp the major ones, ignored it at the time. I’m in NYC and Republican candidates tend to be ignored by news orgs unless it is for President, Governor, or Mayor.
Local news organizations did raise questions in their coverage of Santos. One column in The North Shore Leader noted the eye-popping increase in Santos’s net worth from less than $5,000 to more than $11 million over a period of two short years. The piece even quoted an anonymous Republican leader as saying, “Are we being played as extras in ‘The Talented Mr. Santos’?” And the DCCC’s research memo on Santos outlined many of the allegations made in the Times report. It noted the IRS’s lack of knowledge of the congressman-elect’s animal-rescue charity and raised questions about his financial status. The document does, however, list Santos’s educational and professional claims without question. The bulk of the 87-page research document leans into Santos’s ties to Trump and his antiabortion stance.
Zimmerman says his campaign “was unrelenting in getting people’s attention” but that, ultimately, “I think part of the problem, quite frankly, was everyone saw this as not a competitive seat. They didn’t see the Republican tidal wave coming in New York, and so they didn’t focus on the race.” Jacobs, too, echoed this sentiment. “Santos didn’t win the race based on his campaign or who he is,” he said. “Like many other Republicans, particularly on Long Island, [Santos] won because of the view that this was an issue-driven election and the issue this year was crime.” Indeed, a red wave did run through New York on November 8, where even Sean Patrick Maloney—the person tasked with steering Democrats to another majority—lost his own race.

He also reneged on deals he had promised the Democrats. Why would they trust him in the future?
Are all Republican politicians stunt queens?
He’s a short fingered vulgarian.
I’m not in Canada but childcare for our two children when they were little was $24k/year. I’d imagine its more like $30k/year now. We did not go overboard and buy the latest fad this or that, and used tons of hand me downs, but we absolutely needed childcare so that we both could work. Their afterschool, once they were old enough for public Elementary school, was around $10k/year for the two of them.
Does Canada provide free childcare? Would a couple, with each making $35k/year, qualify for free childcare? Otherwise I don’t see how $30k would cover one child from 0-12 years.
Congrats on quitting. That took a lot of determination, I’m sure.
Most kids aren’t vaping anything with nicotine in it. Most are vaping 0mg juices and trying to look cool blowing clouds. Nicotine isn’t a super addictive chemical, it’s about as addictive as caffeine.
This really varies by state, based on the smoking policies. In Republican led states, smoking policies have led to shorter life spans.
Most countries have set a legal age for drinking alcohol.
You can try NewPipe, which is free. IIRC I downloaded it from F-Droid. Maybe someone else can reply and confirm that’s the best place to get it.
