Primary issues I can see with retrieval are tangling/kinking and re-spooling/splicing. The fibers are insanely thin and the drones are flying in between trees, not exactly a smooth path for retrieval.
I saw a picture a few weeks ago of a field in Ukraine, taken from amongst an adjacent patch of trees, and it just looks like spiderwebs. Dozens and dozens of fine spider web strands, each one delivering a drone into the meat grinder. Terrible, beautiful, and such a fucking waste.

My first memory of a “global event” was 9/11. Then the Patriot Act and the Iraq/Afghanistan war. Then Citizens United and single-payer ObamaCare got shutdown and I gave up on the US, put my head down and got to work on an engineering degree so I could emigrate.

If his home instance is any indication, this absolutely tracks for the Midwest US. I grew up in the northern Midwest and drove past a Confederate flag frequently for the better part of 15 years. I got to thinking about it; I recognized it as a dog whistle for racism, but did the people who flew it so proudly recognize it as such?

Everyone is born a human, be they typical or divergent. Whether they are typical or divergent, we are all human. The whole point of shifting to “neurodivergent” was to reduce the dehumanization of those with differently structured brains.
The owning class live in their own bubble of affluence and excess. Their lives have been fundamentally different than that of the working class. They have devised their own morals, their own ethics, their own nations and religions and empires for all of human history. The owning class are just as much the products of imperfect human systems replacing imperfect human systems, as are the working class. It’s all generational trauma, year after decade after century after millenia.
Yet, they are still human. To think otherwise is to consider yourself superior in a fundamental way. To think “I would never do that!” without considering how the fundamental differences between your upbringings is a judgement call made in bad faith.
This is not to say I think they shouldn’t be punished to the full extent of the law. There is absolutely still personal responsibility regardless of your upbringing. But when we base or bias our systems off of/towards rewarding adversarial human emotions should it come as a surprise when we raise adversarial humans?
Regardless of their nature or nurture, we are all humans, we are all stuck on this planet together, and boy is it heating up fast.

I’m an American mechanical engineer that’s been considering working and living in Sweden for a long time, with recent events pushing me to pursue it with more vigor. Do you know of any culture/law/history primers that may be accessible for an English speaker? Or similar subject but in Swedish with children’s book-style vocab/grammar? Yeah, that’s what I’ve found so far as well, mostly crap postings (though frankly it feels little different in the US). I’ve had Sweden in mind for awhile, have done some digging and have the Pimsleur Swedish course downloading. Found an email for an aerospace professor with research in my field of interest but haven’t reached out yet. Did reach out to a former professor/research lead to pick his brain about emigrating in general this morning but haven’t heard back yet.

Germany would be pretty excellent actually, the part of Wisconsin I grew up in has a long German heritage. I did look into it, but my German ancestors came over in the 1850s which appeared to disqualify me from automatic citizenship. Are there websites or recruiting companies that specialize in finding jobs in the EU for foreigners? Thank you!
