  • A dealership (or that’s how it works here) is obligated to sell x amount of cars (usually same brand or at least same group). They will just be sent the cars whether they sell them or not. So in a worst case scenario the franchise ends up with shitty cars no one wants and has to dump them on the market for shit prices.

The result is often that cost of maintaining a vehicle at a dealership is through the roof because they don’t have a healthy margin on new cars (or even lose money on them).

They also have very idiotic requirements at times to even become a dealer. Although supposedly they have loosened requirements and rules since no one wanted to be a dealership anymore here.

  • As far as remasters go I think it’s pretty good.

Don’t expect a 2025 game in terms of mechanics and level design. For it’s time Oblivion was a very good game. This is a polished version of the original with updated graphics and somewhat modernised combat and movement. They ironed out a lot of clunky mechanics and bugs too.

As far as remasters go the GTA ones were absolute dogwater just like warcraft 3 remastered. This one is very good and imo comparable with the command and conquer remasters.

I dont think they could have done much more without making the game completely different.

  • Is that really an alternative though? I bought a synology because I don’t want to spend hours and hours configuring shit, only for it to break after an update. I fiddled around with proxmox, truenas etc. But it’s a hassle. I absolutely believe that DIY is the way to go if you have the time for it though.

I hate what synology is doing and seeing where most companies are heading I’m pretty sure the enshittification won’t stop at using their own branded HDDs. But I just want a solution that works. As shitty as this move by synology is for me its still cheaper to spend 30 euros more on a drive and have a hassle free solution then screwing around with DIY solutions.

Please prove me wrong though… I’m trying to rid myself of big tech and have been pretty successful so far (linux, self hosting, no more streaming subscriptions etc.). If anyone knows of a better solutions that had synology drive like function and hyper backup like function with a minimal maintenance OS I’m all for it.

  • Well… they went the enshittification route and they keep on censoring more and more. One of their latest stunts is that they’re going to implent an age check by making a video of you.

Yeah sorry but that is very privacy invasive. I’m all for trying to catch predators and shit but I’m not giving away my privacy for it.

As an added bonus they’re more and more ads so they can link all that juicy data you send them to a profile.

  • The problem with Matrix to me is that it is simply too unstable. I can open it up on any device and half the messages won’t load or are corrupted. Media won’t show at all. In contrast Lemmy has been super reliable and “just works”, so going from reddit to lemmy was no problem at all. And the communities are great too.

I just want working voice chat and group chats.

The entire streaming i don’t really care about. There are other apps for that.

But yeah as it is I’m probably better off using discord until the enshittification is so bad no one wants to use it anymore.

  • I’ve already settled on making lemmy my new home a long while ago. I like it here and there is more than enough engagement.

What i can’t really find an alternative for is discord… it’s going through the “enshittification fascism techbro” phase.

I tried matrix but honestly it sucks, Its so incredibly buggy it’s barely even usable. I’m still willing to give it a try since it seems very promising but the instability is a big downside.

  • There were some okay boards like /a/ and /vg/. The rest was pure trash. I used to play warframe and world of tanks and /vg/ had a pretty decent thread (but that was like 10? Years ago) where you could find other players and discuss builds.

/a/ was okay but as soon as reddit (which i stopped using too) had a decent anime community i left from that too since it was mostly shitposting.

Unironically /g/ sometimes had some good threads for recommending used laptops.

The past 5? years I barely visited it since every single board became a breeding ground for hate speech, trolling and shitposting. I checked time to time if things became better but nope. I decided it was better to just check reddit (and now lemmy) communities that highlighted the funny posts.
