I’ve never looked at theirs, but I know it’s not uncommon for large entities to have handles on big sites just to reserve the real estate so imposters/scammers/bad actors don’t move in and take those names.

Their detergent and fabric softer is fantastic!
Was going to suggest this too. We use attitude for all our shower products and have been happy with them for years. +1 for their bulk refill boxes too! Also using them for all our cleaning supplies and laundry supplies too. We have a bulk refill station of their products in the laundry room haha
There’s some Facebook ‘buy Canadian’ groups with over half a million people in - this server occasionally comes up there too when people are looking for Canadian hosted discussion sites to ditch big American tech like reddit or Facebook groups.
This type of business ownership is what I love about so many parts of Europe. The streets are all lined with shops owned by generations of people who live in the area and not by huge multi-national corps. The neighborhood supports the businesses, they help out the neighborhood, and it’s a happy community. I wish we could have this here, but it’s just a capitalist hellhole.
IMO all government at every level should be mandated to support local and/or Canadian first when possible. I don’t why an entity that serves the people can’t also be directly supporting those they serve instead of putting that money into other countries - just seems backasswards to me.
On the domain side, I use Canspace. They’ve always been the cheapest around for .ca domains too which is an added bonus. Been with them probably just under a decade and super happy with the services. Just using for personal use stuff.
Everywhere I’ve ever worked has been bought and destroyed by American PE. All were successful and large Canadian employers doing just fine who caught the eye of PE and in many ways were strong armed into a sale or else the PE would just buy up all their competitors, make a super company, and crush them anyway. I wish Canada would see what’s going on and regulate PE gobbling up all the successful homegrown companies and local industries. Especially now - we don’t need all our major employers here being owned by Americans because what happens what Donny boy passes some absurd law and they have to fire all the Canadians?
Ford just realized he can actually save even more money by cutting off the doctors of the unhealthy patients. The healthy ones don’t cost as much 😉
Most walk behind style mowers don’t have oil filters.
I got an ad once for a group selling stolen credit card numbers too. I must have reported it at least a dozen times but it was always kept up and the report said it didn’t break any rules. It only got removed after I just skipped Facebook reports and reported to the police.
Got a relative who’s worked at a local Loblaws warehouse/distribution center for decades - he said within days of the boycott starting, their orders from stores dropped dramatically and they were sending people home and scaling back shifts. Comparatively speaking they used to be so busy that basically anyone could opt for overtime whenever they wanted it. It was great to hear that from the inside and validate what murmur was in the media about it back then.
Couple years ago = 13 years ago lol
Unless you live there, your visit to BC likely did not involve needing to use any of those systems or services. You saw the country through tourist eyes.
Add Canada to that list. 1 million immigrants a year and everything is collapsing - our housing, healthcare, education, nothing can keep up.
I wonder how easy it is to reconfigure floor plans in condos? Surely there will come a time where we just have so many small and undesirable units that the building owners need to consider making livable size units again. I don’t know a single person whose lived in one of these micro sized units and not talked about how horrible that living situation is for their mental health, yet in my city we just keep building thousands of these units every year now.
Sadly, some of the chaos is already spilling over. The guy slated to probably be our next PM is basically Trump Jr. and has done all he can to appeal to the far right here, who have gotten exponentially more vocal and empowered in recent years. My province is also working slowly toward privitized healthcare too. Canada is more and more just America Jr. these days.
And unless it’s name brand, most things that plug into the wall from amazon lack proper safety certifications too (power bars, extension cables, etc). Many will print the logos on them, but when you look them up they have zero certifications and aren’t recognized by those authorities at all.
I’ll back you up with a source since I just went down this rabbit hole on another comment https://www.dal.ca/news/2021/11/29/milk-jugs--cartons-or-plastic-bags---which-one-is-best-for-the-e.html
Argue enough and you can sometimes even get the full term back! I did! Really laid into them about their union busting and political donations.
