Right? What the article needs to talk about is how very, very low that bar is.

I mean beyond everything else, any group actually interested in the safety and security of citizens (so, not politicians or cops anywhere apparently), should be pushing everything to be encrypted everywhere. In the modern digital world anything not properly encrypted is at risk for ate tracks by bad actors.
Everywhere will be a state!
Well except Puerto Rico, for some odd reason the one place that could reasonably become a state isn’t on the list.
What makes you think it’s supposed to help anyone? This is them speed running tearing the US down to the nails and selling it off for pennies to themselves.
I hate these headlines. “Remember when they said something that was obviously them lying, because that’s all they do? Well guess what!? We journalists fell for it but it turned out, it was a lie! Who could have known?”
Not me. I’m motivated on making sure myself and all my loved ones get to continue to vote. Stopping Trump and voting for Biden just so happen to line up for that.
Well it’s a valid concern. So I should fucking hope so.
If a business wants a particular outfit to be worn then they should provide the uniforms in their dollar.
Heck, right now, in this same Lemmy: https://lemmy.world/post/14467149
All about how Biden’s administration is expanding the Federal TItle IX protections:
The Biden administration on Friday will announce changes to Title IX, expanding protections for LGBTQ+ and pregnant students while overhauling controversial Trump-era guidance around how schools handled sexual assault cases.
And here people are acting like they do nothing.
Did we magically become a far left utopia? Of course fucking not. But Biden has been far more effective and progressive than I ever expected of him having grown up watching him. Does everything take far longer than it should? Yep, welcome to politics where one side is trying to tear down everything (quite literally) as it’s being built. Are things as progressive as I’d like? No of course not, but they’re frequently more progressive than I expected. That’s the unfortunate truth of how things get done.
And for all the people who are basically saying “I voted once and all my dreams failed to come true”, welcome to your civic duty. Vote the best way you can every election, especially local ones, and realize you’re trying to guide things through your entire lifetime not just 4 years and done.
Because why should self proclaimed billionaires face consequences for their actions and statements. /sigh
“I got mine, the rest can fuck off” says yet another famous asshole
Right? I don’t get this. Look Harris is not my first choice for president compared to… well anyone else I had to vote for in the primary she was in. But I’d still take her over literally any person who still feels the republicans represent them in any way.
Except one is a useless celebrity that can be ignored into irrelevance, and the other is a Supreme Court justice with the direct ability to aid in destroying our democracy.
I never knew the leopards would eat my face!
It’s like the complaints about student loans, his administration has repeatedly tried to do something to help and has literally had the Republicans sue the aid out of existence!
Biden wasn’t my first choice but even I can see the daily articles showing that his administration is trying to do something about these things and being blocked at literally every single turn.
The largest problem I see is that I would use reddit to keep up on local events, since at the time I preferred it to using Twitter or FB for the same. Now I avoid all three but the community that posted for the local stuff in my city didn’t move to Lemmy or Mastodon. I don’t have a way to post the local stuff myself because if I had a good way to keep track of it I wouldn’t have needed reddit for it in the first place!
Which I guess is just me unhappy that more of the communities didn’t move over, I really don’t have a solution to the problem. Other than continuing to engage here as often as I can and hoping for the best.
So don’t live in a city. But for those of us who do, and enjoy doing so, our cities shouldn’t be built to cater to you, they should be built around catering to those of us who enjoy living in them.
The people did decide already, when it got included in the constitution.
