This is a fascinating project but I’m always frustrated when they don’t share the formulation of their materials. Looks like a lot of reinforcement. A major downside to modular geodesic construction is the number of seams that invite leakage over time. A more monolithic application of a slower-setting material over a frame would be preferable to me.
Having experimented with a lot of concrete composites I’m always looking for the sweet spots of frugality, obtainablity, practically. This appears to be some geopolymer or magnesium cement -fairly exotic materials for me. Geopolymers often require a strong alkali to set. Not a huge fan of Portland, but at least it’s obtainable and relatively inexpensive for sustainable use cases.
The Humanure Handbook by Joe Jenkins is a useful guide for a low-tech, sanitary, low-odor composting toilet option that is safe if correctly maintained.
Tiger got to hunt
Bird got to fly
Man got to ask himself “why, why, why”
Tiger got to sleep
Bird got to land
Man got to tell himself he understand
There’s also an interesting Greg Bear novel called Blood Music about computational cells that take over. Worth a read/listen.
“I cannot permit this to continue”.
Was just having a conversation about the phrase “selling out”. Seems you don’t hear it used much anymore. I reckon that’s because the concept is seen as more of a life skill now than some despicable practice. But I feel sure it would be argued I’m just jealous of those sweet living wages.
If you haven’t already you may wish to read The Humanure Handbook by Joe Jenkins. It outlines a practical diy composting toilet system that is low-odor and sanitary when maintained properly.
Kefir is also an option. It incubates at room temperature. Just need a scoby, container and milk.
This. I’ve watched too many people I care about suffer horribly and die prematurely from largely preventable illnesses. My own health went to hell from some genetic predispositions until I worked out I could absolutely not tolerate a standard American diet. Obviously some people can get away with it more than others for longer. But that’s not me. Found I wanted more life and a better quality of life. Fortunately I had the resources to change my diet and lifestyle. I realize that is a luxury not available to everyone.

“For the love of God, Montresor!”
Seriously. I spent 2 days in the hospital last week with bilateral pulmonary embolisms after having COVID the middle of last month. I was NOT otherwise at risk for clots. A terrible surprise that I’ll no doubt be recovering from for some time. I’m on a blood thinner for 6 months.
Robert Loggia and David Lynch have something to say about this:
When Vita-mixes are criminalized, only criminals will have Vita-mixes.
Whoa. “Going to Hell in a handbasket” just got literal.
Picard’s alternate life on that doomed world inspires some deja vu bumping up against current events.
Jesse Welles might be the Guthrie of our time.
