UBI is a safety net for people that lose their jobs/can’t work. What are people supposed to do if no one is hiring? What are people supposed to do when companies lay off their workforce so shareholders can make more profits at the end of the year?

Besides, UBI is the bare minimum to keep a person alive. No one is buying their fifth yacht with UBI money (usually that comes from corporate welfare money).

America is threatening to take away 100% of Canada’s independence. Joining the EU would be in Canada’s best interest, although I don’t think it will happen (hope I’m wrong though).

Right after 9/11, almost every house in Canada had American flags up in their windows. Newspapers were even printing full page flags for people to use. That’s how much Canadians cared about Americans.

I’ve met some of these Canadians. They’re conservatives who think Canada is a liberal hellscape and that being annexed by the USA would be a good thing.

AI is generally bad because it tends to steal content from human creators and is largely being pushed because corporations want another excuse to throw more workers on the street in favor of machines (while simultaneously raising their prices).

There are some AI uses that are good though, such as AI voice generation to help those that can’t speak to communicate with the world and not sound like a robot.
