Out of curiosity, I went to the main Trump forum to see how they’re talking about this. Here’s what they’re saying:

I agree with this, however leaving Kamala out of the main argument of the article really feels like they’re purposely trying to get her off the hook.

I think that’s the joke - hence the “when you want to be sure” tagline.

It came from an article about how the nyt building was being fumigated for bedbugs and someone on Twitter replied to it with a joke about how Bret Stephens was being taken care of or something along those lines. He read it and got incredibly upset and tried to ruin this guys life.

Me scrolling past these posts on hexbear without paying them too much mind is the equivalent of the start of a zombie movie where the TVs/radios in the background are talking about some strange new virus that makes people act weird.

I think what they want is a very specific outcome, and they would prefer to be the ones that bring it into existence, but they’re also ok with the other party doing it as long as the outcome is achieved. They want to win, but they’re ok with losing if it means the larger project remains on the rails.

I think it’ll be very close but Kamala will win. I think she’ll barely squeak by in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump will barely win Georgia, she’ll win Michigan and Nevada more solidly, and Arizona will go for Trump. I think this outcome will be less of a reflection of support for Kamala and more of a loss in enthusiasm for Trump this time around. This is a group of people who have been told over and over that the vote is rigged, therefore their vote doesn’t matter, and being generally lazy, they may be looking for an excuse to just stay at home.

I say this fully expecting to be proven totally wrong in a month and therefore be completely owned, but that’s what my gut tells me now. It really could go either way.

I personally think astrology is destructive to the people who take part in it. I see a lot of arguments along the lines of, “people have fun with it and it gives them comfort” etc. and if that’s all it was, that would be fine, but anyone who’s met someone really into astrology can see that it primes people to apply a totally illogical and incoherent framework to problems in their lives. The problem with that is that you’re never going to grow and learn as a person if you continually grab for this totally illogical tool in your emotional toolbelt every time one of life’s challenges arises. You’ll never reflect on the emotional genesis of a lot of your feelings or responses to the world if you just think, “I did that because I’m a Leo” or whatever. You’ll never get to, “I realize now that I responded to x situation negatively because y factor happens to be a trigger for me and I need to be conscious of that in the future” if you never get past “I responded to x situation negatively because mercury is in retrograde.” Overall I think it’s a toxic trend in our society that prevents people from being able to grow in a healthy way.
