I moved out of Tesla to BYD stocks couple months ago just based on the output and price of their cars and feeling that tariffs aren’t going to keep them out forever. Looking good so far.
But people here don’t really care that much about celebrities being here and maybe not even their username being unique. Could probably be anon1, anon2, etc and it wouldn’t matter that much, since real identity is probably not a draw for them. Focus on regular people wanting the userbase to want to use fediverse rather than celebrities which is an off-putting first impression and point of sale for lot of people here.
You need to pivot is what I’m saying to achieve what you want.
I’m not here for celebrities and they will always flock to centralized platforms anyways, since they are all about the views.
When pay is basically non existent is there a reason to be on spotify? Or is it for “exposure” in hopes of finding new fans.
I’ve preferred firefox on Android, since it doesn’t refresh on me when I minimize it as often as other browsers.
I’ve had to block off entire instances too which I use the Connect app for.
I never found “all” browsable for any platform whether it be lemmy, YouTube, or reddit. It’s why subscribing has been so important to me, and filtering. Like on YouTube which I access through freetube I’ve disabled “trending” and “popular” since even the thumbnails were obnoxious for majority of the videos, and I blocked out channels to keep them from dominating search results. And on reddit what even made /r/all viewable was a reddit enhancement suite filter lists that was in the hundreds for blocking of communities, and even then was a wack a mole that required keyword filtering.
All of any platform will devolve into a shit show. As for niche subs. Yeah, not much that can be done about that if the user base is small.
I uninstalled chrome. Stopped logging into YouTube. And moved to freetube on desktop. Newpipe on Android.
I have the steam deck. I’m asking about a dock.
I’ve wondered if it would be worth getting a dock to hook it up to my second monitor in desktop mode for just web browsing and watching videos.
But it’s $1600 Apple. Not the cheapest Mac book air.
It’s so weird that Google’s phone has been the most accessible for unlocking your phone. Oneplus used to be good too, but then they became bad in that area too and now custom rom scene seems dead for newer Oneplus phones.
I’d go for high fps but same resolution. There’s some rhythm games that benefit from higher frames with it mostly being just scrolling notes so run on potatoes.
It pushed me more towards degoogling. Was already using newpipe on Android and ignoring the YouTube app, and now I’m on freetube on desktop. No need for Google account anymore to look at the feed I want.
I feel safer with F-droid.
I grew up with people who didn’t smoke, but later picked up the habit after vaping. So it’s why I was wondering about studies over anecdotal evidence whether it be yours or mine.
I don’t care what people choose to do with their bodies. More curiosity over in market shifts and what type of new consumers are emerging.
Also, smoking had been on the down trend among newer generations? So vaping is a potentially good hook to lead to cigarettes among newer generations. Will be an interesting study on the impact of newer generations as opposed to the older ones who are using it as quitting aids.
His union stance was what made me start viewing him less positively. What is good for the company and the founders is going to be different from what employees consider beneficial for them. But, taking the stance of the benevolent dictator of how he would consider it a failure on his part if a union formed while trying to sell it off as though it wasn’t really profit motivated but concern for the workers made me roll my eyes.
Of course it would be profit motivated with impact on payroll, hours, and benefits being impacted and him having less control over what he considers to be fair compensation.
Linus having his podcast and having a platform to start going off the script made me start not liking him much. Lot of his takes gave the impression that if Linus were an ISP he’d be completely for caps.
I remember when Chinese phones used to have a thriving custom rom scene. Then one by one they started locking their crap down or making tools available for it poor enough that custom rom support died out.
