NaevaTheRat [she/her]

Despite all my rage I’m still a rat refreshing this page.

I use arch btw.

Credibly accused of being a fascist, liberal, commie, anarchist, child, boomer, pointlessly pedantic, a Russian psychological warfare operative, and db0’s sockpuppet.

Pronouns are she/her.

Vegan for the iron deficiency.

  • Non vegans at least have the excuse of being deeply indoctrinated, and having 90+ percent of people reenforcing and defending their behaviour. The ultra rich dont.

Was talking about the Paris commune in particular, the national assembly is an example of where rich people fall. Rather than share bread they’ll install fascist military dictatorships.

Keeping people in a cage is crueler and riskier than just killing them. If anyone voluntarily gives up their wealth and power I’m all for forgiveness, I’ve never seen it happen but even serial killers have voluntarily turned themselves in and sought help.

I don’t think you quite grasp just how far gone the rich are.

  • It’s absolutely not 0, people constantly try non violent means of renegotiating social relations and get nowhere, in fact they usually get executed for the trouble. Revolutions have left people alive and they consistently side with counterrevolutionary forces and violently crush anyone attempting to improve equality.

I mean french revolution says hello? The worst that can happen is they scuttle off, rouse reactionary forces, and violently oppress billions again. Which they have consistently done no matter how attractive the proposed alternatives have been.

Also people who aren’t vegan and have encountered the idea also suck, so that isn’t exactly making your point.

  • mandatory minimum sentencing is a completely fucked up knee jerk reaction. The government does sweet FA to tackle Nazis because half of Parliament is sympathetic to them, then decide to earn some quick PR by interferring with the court system and lending legitimacy to an extremely blunt instrument primarily used to lock up indigenous kids.

edit: no actually fuck this. Anti hate speech laws were only really updated for this shit a year ago (tells ya something huh), there literally hasn’t been time to test if the courts are just throwing Nazis back out onto the street with a slap on the wrist. Gaol is basically never good and the idea of punishing someone disproportionately as a warning to others is completely unjust. MMS is largely used in Australia to fuck up children and Aboriginal Aussies, the police still have to actually charge people and since they’re sympathic to fascism laws get applied unjustly.

LGBT people face vilification like actual eugenics enforced by the state until last year for trans people in NSW, murder by cops until quite recently that was never investigate, expulsion from private schools (students recently protected I think, teachers not) but faith groups get immunity to existing hate speech laws. The government doing this is in favour of completely ludicrous and fashy anti protest laws, and directs an increasingly militarised police state to spend most of their effort fabricating evidence against climate protestors while intelligence agencies scream into the void about a rising tide of fascism.

Mins himself (large pusher for this from nsw) is an enthusiastic supporter of ethnic cleansing in occupied Palestine. This is not an anti fascist measure from any sort of coherent platform. It is a stupid kneejerk reaction that will do nothing to actually stop facist (remember, they are very good at dog whistles) from a government that has no interest in stemming the tide of fascism.

Bullshit totalitarian cruelty doesn’t start being good because it’s used against people you hate sometimes, that just legitimises bullshit totalitarian cruelty and provides cover. Fuck this law, fuck this government.

  • This image is silly though because you could just replace the text with “the sky is blue” or any other fact to make the opposite point. Like if you’re going to make a political cartoon the cartoon itself needs to be making some point. Don’t be like that seppo loon that just writes labels on everything.

Something like this is much funnier as the image and text play together.

  • That’s a little histrionic. A large part of propaganda is censorship, it is propaganda when the Chinese government censors discussion of e.g. tiananmen square and it is also propaganda when a mashup of laws and commercial interests prevent people from openly discussing or educating themselves on political tactics. The essential essence is controlling what ideas are normalised and permissible and which are not without engaging with the substance of them.

Not all propaganda is bad, you probably agree with some stuff like indoctrination of people with the idea they have a moral obligation to help their community, or to first attempt resolution of problems via legal means.

There are obvious differences in how and what gets supressed or encouraged but you are completely naive if you think that all states are not explicitly propagandising their populations. They are not benevolent guardians they are weird machines of flesh and ideas which project power because those that don’t get selected away. If you think being clear eyed about the unreliability of emissions from LLMs is cover for chinese statecraft you are a paranoid moron.
