  • This is really solid advice here. Unfortunately most people are not able to follow this thinking. Sometimes you find someone but they change later. This usually happens when you get together at a younger age. The person you were with at 22 is totally different than the person they are at 30. Sometimes you “jump the gun” and get pregnant or get someone pregnant before you really get to know them. This happens when it’s been less than a few years and you haven’t experienced all the different emotions and feelings that happen with life and shit going wrong. How a person is when life is good is not a reflection of how they will behave when life turns sour.

My suggestion for people is to just wait. Wait before getting married. Wait before having kids. And wait before buying a house or other large purchases together. It took me to almost 40 and 5ish serious relationships and many not so serious relationships before finding my wife.

  • Yeah this was such a bait and switch tactic on Sonys part. I remember a few years after they stopped producing backwards compatible models getting in arguments with people who still thought the ps3 could play ps2 games. Yes the first model (and maybe more) could but then they took the chips out to do it in order to save money. Really lame Sony. I had a friend even buy one without realizing this till he was trying to play his old games

I’ll take the downvotes. It’s both obviously. PayPal is dope and still going strong, Tesla single handedly made the electric car viable, spaceX brought reusable rockets a thing and internet connectivity to rural communities (me included).

I used to be a fanboy but now loathe the guy. It’s ok to hate but don’t downplay his contribution to society.

  • Hi I’m new here. My friend has been trying to get me in for ages. The reason I am here is because my Reddit account of 10 years and one of 3 years got permabanned. And it was really for no reason. I tried to make a new account and that also got instantly permabanned. That’s when I found out that my 10year account also got banned. So yeah fuck what happened on Reddit.

I’m really liking lemmy and my iOS app (mlem) and enjoying the community. The only thing I miss from Reddit is the video integration.

It’s super hard to quit but I’ll tell you what helped me. I got altoids and every time I wanted a smoke I’d eat a mint. If I still wanted a smoke I’d eat another mint. At break I’d go out with all the smokers and I’d eat a mint. Driving home I’d eat a mint. It took a few containers of mints but I eventually got sick of mints (and cigarettes). After I quit I would still try taking a drag off a random cigarette and I absolutely hated it. Not sure if I rewired my brain or what but I was able to stay off the smokes. Good luck. You got this.

Pro tip: take your smoke money and save it in another account or a piggy bank or whatever. You will be blown away about how much your addiction was costing you.
