I watched a documentary on Arte a few months ago, since I never really knew much about Allende and the circumstances of the coup d’état.

Two aspects I found personally interesting:

1. A reactionary and conservative opposition — backed by powerful elites and foreign influence — was blocking all progress and reforms initiated by the democratically elected Allende government.

2. Allende’s response to the sabotage and obstruction by the conservative and right-wing opposition was to continue seeking dialogue, uphold the constitution, and try to avoid a constitutional crisis at all costs.

A lot of similarities and parallels can be seen today in how conservative and right-wing parties operate — using the same playbook we saw back then in Chile. A strategy all too familiar, and somehow still (and once again) disturbingly effective.

Absolutely. On the other hand this shenanigans put pressure on our economy and we need to get back on track and prepare for the next round of Trumps grifter moves.

While Merz’s move might not have any immediate impact on the polls - since the CDU is currently leading - it will soon create a much bigger problem: no party across the democratic spectrum will be willing to form a coalition with him.

He may win over some radicals and see a temporary boost (or no negative impact) in the polls, which will likely lead him to believe he’s on the right track. But in the long run, he’s undermining his own trustworthiness.

Imagine being in a coalition with him, and then he starts pushing radical policies that have no support from his partners or the democratic parties. He’ll likely work with the far righters of AfD.

That’s a person you simply can’t trust or work with. The CDU may still win the election, but Merz has effectively destroyed his chances of becoming Chancellor.

His only remaining path to power would be through a power-hungry, partisan approach that prioritizes politics over the country’s well-being and democracy - ultimately paving the way for working with the AfD, which would be disastrous for Germany’s democratic foundations.

At this point, he became Germany’s version of Trump.

Seriously. Americans act like scared puppies, barking but backing down when facing an inbred orange pomeranian.

The people have the power. Organize statewide protests, block roads, and mobilize the working class to stand against fascism. Be more like the French citoyens.

Stop waiting for someone else to save your asses. This is 2016 all over again, when you pinned your hopes on Mueller or some other investigator. No one is coming.

Stop whining. Take action. Fight fascism.

Honestly, you can read and understand a lot of Trump’s plan by examining Mussolini’s strategy for fascist Italy.

While upholding free speech is crucial, there are limits, especially when dealing with extremists and intolerant individuals.

US citizens need to start actively demonstrate the core values of democracy and resist the influence of intolerant elements (which are supported by Russia and orchestrated by russian spies) or else they will end freedom and democracy for everyone once and for all.

Now, it’s a security concern as these apps can screenshot your device activity. Every classified document opened on his phone might be visible to a third party, possibly even a foreign spy agency. Thanks to Republicans, Russia and China find it easier than ever.

This is what the Republican Party has become: working against U.S. interests, embracing totalitarianism, and receiving funds from Russia and China. Tuberville is a prime example of this disturbing trend within the GOP.

Religion was and still is the danger for society and end of democracy. It has no place in a scientific and enlightend society. Even the founding fathers knew.

Folks, preserving democracy means not allowing Republicans and right-wingers to interfere with fair elections.
