Gross. I didn’t know that. I do occasionally use AirBnB. I’m aware of their impact on the rental market, so I favor hotels most of the time. But there have been a few occasions in recent years where I was traveling in a larger group and an AirBnB made more sense. But no more of that.
I looked in to this a little, and Joe Gebbia is no longer the CEO, but he is still on the board. Still a good enough reason to boycott.
Risk is also a factor re: self hosting.
Those concerns are what stop me. Because I otherwise think I’d enjoy hosting a little corner in the fediverse.

It’s a novel idea. But despite the article’s claims this is not a practical alternative to a laptop in planes, coffee shops, etc. Nor is a minipc inherently more serviceable than a laptop as others have pointed out.
For traveling, if it’s a longer trip, it almost makes sense to me as you’d have it set up for a while. Though I’d do a mini ITX system. The ones with external power supplies and no drive bays or expansion slots are pretty small. But even then, I don’t feel like this would be significantly better than a laptop. And that’s a lot to buy for a niche use case.

I was running it on a VM on the home server but then any downtimes that machine had were also HA downtimes. Decided that mattered enough to run it on it’s own hardware.
Conciseness and directness help.
As an example, there was someone I worked with that tended to ask around a question.
“What do you know about x? What do you know about y? What do you know about z?”
Instead of “How do I get from x to z?”
I think they just want to understand the underlying process. And I can understand that. But I wasn’t their mentor and it was at times frustrating.

My tenuous understanding from an article I read about the AT protocol but barely remember is that it can’t be fully decentralized. I think you have to use bluesky for user authentication. And I think it said the hosting hardware requirements would be significant to the point where it’s not very feisable. I welcome corrections/clarifications.
Point is, assuming that’s reasonably correct, true decentralization isn’t possible. And by it’s nature as a big corporate owned site, enshittification is inevitable.
My knowledge both of Fedora and Nvidia are both a bit dated. So if anyone “um actually”''s me, probably defer to them. But last I knew you want to get nvidia drivers from the rpmfusion repo. Relevant link: https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA.
As others have mentioned there’s no need to remove flatpak.
Otherwise, sounds like you’re on the right track to me.
Edit: I just read a comment about breakage with Fedora flatpaks. So perhaps prudent to remove if so.

Probably this is all very reactionary, NVIDIA’s stock will recover and they’ll remain a big player in the LLM space.
But I’m uninterested in LLM’s and would love to see price drops on GPU’s, so i hope there is a longer term moderate market loss for them in this space.

I skipped the iPod as well. Had a Creative Zen Touch, which I thought was a great device. Same kind of deal, it showed up as a removable drive or MTP device or something like that. Can’t remember for sure.
I thought Apple was cool back in the system 6/7 days. I don’t know if it actually was. I was a kid back then and just got to use it a little in school. I didn’t daily drive it. But I did like it based off the usage I got.
When they switched to a BSD* derivative, it became less the the thing I remembered liking and my interest waned. Then they switched to x86 and it became something I felt was completely disassociated with what I considered to be a Mac. And while I could see those were smart choices on their part, I no longer cared for what they were offering.
And now I hate the company for the sorts of things the meme touches on. Not that consumer hostile practices are anything new for them, just more opinionated about it now.
That was rantier than I’d anticipated when I started, but already made it this far.
I pirated a Prime show I already had access to just the other day out of annoyance because of their ads.
A selection of up to 30 candidates for a ranked choice does sound daunting. Yet despite that 80% of those that voted did complete those sections. That doesn’t sound unreasonable to me.

I tend to be nostalgic for the tech of my childhood. VHS is an exception. It always was horrid.

They can be slow to adopt changes. I think the Mozilla foundation getting more funding, staffing, and refocusing on their browser would be the better solution.
While Chromium is an open source project, it is still developed and maintained by Google. For something as important as a web browser, I think it’s imperative that there’s an option outside of their control.
I built an office shed in my back yard. Almost all the grass is gone where I walk between the back door and the shed. I do this fairly frequently, but I’d think still quite a bit less than an even lightly trafficked hiking path.
I’ll put some stepping stones out there eventually.
