I loved Nova, but a couple of years ago, I found AIO, and it just blew nova out of the water for me. I look around to see if anything better comes along, but so far, I’ve not seen anything that gets close to AIO for me. It is so customizable, everything on one vertical scrollable screen, email, notifications, calendar, apps, weather. I absolutely love it!

The main things that stuck in my head after all those years was that stuff like assault, rape, murder, torture, entertainment-based animal abuse all used to be much worse. He said that people used to nail cats to posts around town so they would flail around until they died, just for the hell of it. I never fact-checked these claims.

Thanks for the information, I had no idea that Pinker had such an anti-following. I’ve not read or even thought about him in years. I just vaguely remembered that that book did a lot to make me more thankful for the current state of things compared to how they used to be. I appreciate you letting me know that he is such a questionable fellow.

The Amazon reviews are really bad. If anyone is looking for a book with this same idea, The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined by Steven Pinker is really great.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a praying mantis in real life until now. This is in Okinawa, Japan. Most of the time, she was rocking back like this, and whenever I would get close she would stretch out to climb on me. She would sort of fly a little bit sometimes, and when I found her, she was on my balcony, but she hasn’t been back around since the day I saw her. I read that they are the only insect that can turn their heads independent of their bodies. Also, there is a Spiny Flower Mantis that is definetly worth checking out!

Fascinating, thanks so much for sharing. It is remarkable how much they seemed like they were watching me. I took a video of it the other when it was around. I guess it could just be that I’m darker than the background and so it wants to follow that darkness movement.
