Despite all the legitimate criticism, we should still be wary of powerful interest groups that want to discredit Wikipedia as a whole… and these groups are currently gaining the upper hand. I therefore think we should be careful not to parrot every criticism unquestioningly and write off or demonize the entire project. Because that is exactly what Trump, Musk, and all the other narcissistic, right-wing oligarchs have been hoping for for decades.
What else are they going to do? Flip burgers for minimum wage? Depends on how much they personall liked developing games relative to making big money I guess…
Silver lining: It’s a bubble and not sustainable…even from an economical view. Many of those data centers will be ruins before the end of the decade because there never was an actual use for them to begin with.

Many movements have tried this before. The moment power and money are at stake, the representative system—in which self-interested individuals tend to work their way into leadership positions—leads to divisions.
Furthermore, it won’t help much if the DSA is united when a schism occurs with the old Democrats: On its own, the DSA certainly doesn’t have enough supporters to win the election.
Even if Trump is as unpopular as can be (though 40% still remain loyal to him—but that’s just an aside), there will still be enough Democratic voters who were politically shaped during the Cold War and would never vote for anything with “socialism” in its name.

Europeans are boycotting plans that would clearly be bad for all soccer fans around the world. Shouldn’t they do that just because they participated in the World Cups in Qatar and North America? As if to say: Since you didn’t protest back then, it doesn’t matter now… let the despots of this world have their way!
Of course it’s hypocritical, but that doesn’t change the fact that, as it happens, this time they’re also acting in the interest of the majority.

I do have one “BUT,” though: Let’s hope the Democrats don’t follow in the footsteps of many (at least in name) left-wing political groups and split apart. Nothing could be better for the Republicans than to face two parties whose voter bases are each too small to defeat them in the election.

This could be a ‘Brown Turkey’ fig. I emphasize “could” because, to my knowledge, there is even less systematic pomology for figs than there is, for example, for apples and pears, and systematically identifying an unknown variety is therefore even more difficult.
This variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and a very bountiful brebas (the first generation of figs of the year) harvest.
To identify the variety more precisely, you might want to look around your area for similar trees whose identities have been confirmed…

Of course, union-busting is completely unacceptable and is rightly condemned.
My comment was more of a general warning against—despite all the justified criticism—allowing ourselves to be divided and discrediting Wikipedia as a project.
If we look at how the right wing influences the world, this is exactly how it works: Instead of working from the outside to destroy an institution or movement, they use the media power they’ve bought up over time to deepen existing internal tensions and further polarize the situation.
That’s very likely not the case with this blog, but I wouldn’t be surprised if actors from the far-right were to seize on this issue to discredit Wikipedia and Wikimedia as a whole. If the project were to end, it would ultimately do far more harm to us as a general public than the problematic handling of workers’ rights… especially in these times, when there are enough fascists for whom Wikipedia is a thorn in their side.
