If he’s willing to admit that publicly, then I’ll bet deep down he knows he’s going down in the history books as one of the (if not the) worst presidents America ever had. Not in my experience, but again that was quite some time ago - I think it was Android 6 the last time I did it.
ETA: although now that I think about it, it was technically done in an “unsafe” manner by exploiting vulnerabilities. For the more safety-concerned, maybe a wipe was preferred.

Honestly? Same. Although supposedly Google added the ability recently to share them to other devices, the fact you couldn’t easily (if at all - I didn’t bother researching that much) do so before rang some alarm bells for me. Considering how dependent upon Google’s known capriciousness using them would make me, I’ve also declined to use them thus far. That’s why I made fun of them with the “kewl keeds” comment.
