That’s the dictionary definition perhaps, but not what they’re pushing for. Conservatives talk about small government etc, but really it’s about rewarding the ingroups and punishing the outgroups.
They want to revert reproductive rights, with the government tracking periods and investigating women’s bodies. That’s weird af. They love the police state and mass surveillance, recording people’s messages and web activities is hugely creepy. It’s weird if a person snoops on you like that, and it’s weird if the government does it. They care way too much about what’s between your legs and which gender you sleep with, again, weird.
Edit: also just to add there is good weird and bad weird. Good weird is being yourself despite what the mainstream does, bad weird is forcing your viewpoints on others

Claudine Gay was right to resign, if the very top position at a university is occupied by someone with no academic integrity, then that will spread like an infection.
It’s more than just brushing and flossing, they grind off plaque etc. Preventative maintenance for teeth basically.
Millions of Facebook users outnumbering previous users 100 to 1 will kill it. Oh, there’ll be more activity than ever, but it will be a sanitised corporate safe space for advertisers, where millions of normies argue about politics, with misinformation and ads sprinkled throughout.
Joe’s poses really don’t help dispel the whole hair sniffing meme
Twitter has always sucked and destroying it at his own expense is the one good thing Musk has done. He should buy Facebook next.
That’s a pretty uncharitable interpretation, the commenter is just saying they otherwise don’t know have any experience with the country
White Castle does not exist in AU/NZ so the round bun criteria is still consistent
Wouldn’t have guessed that it was Korean farmers who let the dogs out
Swap Trump for Bush and this is what the early internet was like

I prefer things without powermods, corporate and government influence, profit motives, censorship, groupthink, karma farming, excessive banning, etc etc.
If people really miss an endless content feed then they can just switch to one of the social media giants - it’ll only take a couple of clicks - and Keep Lemmy Good.
Nah it wouldn’t be that, those sorts of land acknowledgements are very common in Melbourne, especially in the Arts, that would have been perceived as utterly uncontroversial by the MSO
