Their home security IT system is a mosquito net made of paper with a post-it note saying ‘no hack pl0x’.
They had been caught letting the Russians take a quick comfy look around and promptly doing fuck all about it. I guess the Russians assume that it’s the same reason half of the EU/NATO would also know if Putty decided to take a walk in that country.
And this is where unregulated capitalism and the constant craze for GROWTH GROWTH GROWTH comes into the picture. With a failing demographic AND an aging society, economic collapse is inevitable. I mean, it could be just a long, smooth slope in theory, but not with this dystopian economic system where you have already spent the money you’re getting back in 10 years’ time, with the greedy shareholders dictating everything.
I mean, these demographic changes will happen regardless, but the effects of currently having such a flawed and short sighted system will be painfully drastic.
Back when I last used it (we’re speaking ~8 years ago), I was actually happy using it instead of MSO. …until I opened a Word document and all the tabulations and spacing went to shit. I don’t know whether it got fixed yet, but as soon as they always look identical to the pixel, opened in either editor, I will finally ditch Word.
I guess the same goes for Excel/Calc. Once all the functions are called and work the same, all the formatting looks the same in both, I’ll stick with Calc.
(It might come across as I’m being MS elitist, but it’s quite the opposite - I would love to switch, but if the admin requires docx, I have these two to choose from. I understand it’s not Libre’s fault, but I can’t do much, either)
Also, the one with the hole requires less material for the same lever width.
the joke is it’s painted on the actual route 67.
I couldn’t find it in the linked article either, but unfortunately it’s less jokey, as in, the vocalist that also sang this song passed away tragically early in 2011, and apart from the systemic corruption, it was also made as a tribute to him.
Nice, we also have the backline dodgeball thing with teams!
Wait, does it mean that your version of dodgeball is literally ‘burnball’? Or does poltto have two different meanings? Either way, I love the word already.
I hate the vile stuff that the Hungarian government has/had been doing in the past fifteen (!) years, but if there has ever been a chance to overthrow them, it’s now(ish). I know that a year is still a pretty long time, and I’m sure they will switch to overdrive now that they feel it might be their last year, at least in the 2/3 majority, but there’s another election coming in April 2026. I would hate it if the country got expunged juuuust before a possible change of regime, even if that change probably won’t be Earth shattering.
I just hope the EU comes up with some creative solution to keep these evil autocrats at bay for the “little” time until then.
Oh, so THAT’S why they brought Excel into this! I didn’t make the connection and just thought Excel would even consider a glass of water a date.
It’s interesting that people still ring something around noon. In my European country it’s common practice in every town/village (even in big cities) to ring the church bell at 12 o’ clock, but that’s a tradition from waaaaay back when not everyone could have a timekeeping device. We also have an air raid siren (mostly because of a “nearby” nuclear reactor), which also gets tested, but only about once a month.
EDIT: What the fuck did I do? I just said it was interesting that while in a different form, noon time ringing is still a thing in 2025. Sorry if that offended someone.
I’ve been using it for years, but only for ~10 minutes a day. Obviously it can’t teach you to speak it, but to read and write? Absolutely. The secret is to NEVER install the app. My philosophy is that if it has a website then everything should be doable via the website, and I won’t install the app.
NOTHING should urge you to install their app, unless it actually cannot function properly on a, say, desktop PC. In case of a trekking and hiking app, I understand it only works properly knowing your location (I would still be terribly paranoid about what else it does with my location info, apart from recommending paths and whatnot). But other than that, I always assume that when something could be perfectly done via a website and they still push their app, they just want to sell your data.
And believe me, using Duolingo via the website is definitely less frustrating than having the app.
Starring: Danny Trejo (in any role, really)
Yeah, stop shaming trailer park vampires!
“Hungary would be a better place if you didn’t beat out the fuse, but each other’s” - or “Hungary would be a better place if you’d beat each other’s instead of the fuse”.
By the way, OP accidentally overlooked the country/place translation, but I’m 100% sure they know, otherwise.
Boring explanation in the spoiler box:
To jack off = to beat (it) out/off in Hungarian. E.g. “I beat out/off my dick to this picture of a daisy”.
To blow the fuse (…box?) = to beat out/off the fuse in Hungarian. Beat might not be the best translation, and it could be closer to ‘slam’ or ‘pop’ or something, but we use the same word (‘ver’ / ‘beat’) in both cases.
We also use the term ‘blow the fuse’ when talking about having enough of something that grinds your gears. Like, “I could still tolerate that ignorant knob, but when he started talking about all the doctors of the world conspiring, that blew the fuse for me. (‘beat out/off the fuse for me’)” - kind of when you lose it.
Despite the 2/3 majority in parliament, the actual vote head counts were closer to a 45/55 (or 48/52, depending on the source) at the last few elections. This is due to severe gerrymandering, excessive propaganda, oppressing opposition and independent media outlets, and intentionally cutting education funds.
But I’m also both saddened and infuriated by the fact that while it’s not the majority, still, HALF of the fucking country still supports this vile, hateful, corrupt, literally evil government.
I guess there’s no hope for the country, and it will soon devolve into another Belarus.
Aaaah, I get it now, thanks! I did see the “↑ 4” bits everywhere, but it turns out that every single comment I have looked at had 0 downvotes, and then instead of going ”↓ 0”, it just simply doesn’t display downvotes. I thought I was going mad.
I liked the previous implementation, though. To me it seemed more clear.
