That seems a little extreme. I would maybe agree if 1) it wasn’t being made by the guy who has already got an AGPL project in Pixelfed and 2) it was on open signups. Whilst software is invite-only or closed entirely I don’t really see a problem in it not being open-sourced.

I think in recent years the lines have been blurred but I would say Matrix is more “Discord-like” because it is account-centric rather than phone-centric and is designed more around communities than 1:1 IM’s to replace texting.

But Revolt isn’t federated is it? It wouldn’t fit here any more than signal.

The problem is the moment there is another instance then loops.video won’t even make sense as that is just the name of the instance and not the application.

Yup, its just called Loops, there is a download link once you log in for the APK directly or to the iOS testflight. (On a related note why does everything keep like this picture keep calling it “Loops.video” when it is just called “Loops”? - we don’t call it “Lemmy.ml”, “Mastodon.social” or “Peertube.tv”)

Out of curiosity rather than necessity, are there any activitypub based messaging apps (i.e matrix/discord-like)?

One not listed is Ibis (https://ibis.wiki/) which hasn’t had much traction. Honestly unsure of how useful it is as a direct wikipedia replacement but i can see it as a cool idea for a bunch of related communities that would otherwise be on separate wikis.

It is only really in the states where ‘liberal’ means left wing. Nearly everywhere else liberalism is centre or centre-left.

I got to that once, on mobile I’ve never worked out the rule for when FF opens a new tab vs opening a site in your current tab. They just kind of silently accumulate.

Which has a bigger bed, a far more economical engine and is overall far more suitable as a work vehicle for carrying those kinds of loads.

Just hire the above for the few times a year you would need it. Honestly I do find it baffling.

What kind of jobs mandate the use of a pickup instead of a regular old van? Maybe tree surgeons and gardeners? Not sure who else specifically requires an open bed. Even then the open bed vans are far more spacious and practical so still not sure where a pickup is ever the correct choice.
