I recently did a Monday.com integration for a customer. On their board they used an ai automation to extract the zip code. This made the board basically hang while the LLM api call is being served.

So, the entire system is slower, more expensive, and occasionally makes errors when a simple regex automation would have been faster, cheaper, and more reliable.

This is why I know LLM providers are going to be fine: people are lazy and would rather spend 5s setting up an ai automation instead of 1m seeing up an efficient one.

Let’s be real, these companies aren’t hiring people off the street. I think the guy wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants is going to have some friction in the interview process.

It would take a global change. I fully believe some places can change, but not change in a sufficient way to make a meaningful difference.

I’m doing my part, no kids, no car, public Transit, I avoid meat, etc but even if everybody in Canada did the same as me, while it would significantly reduce our climate footprint, it wouldn’t realistically change anything.

That said, people should still do it. Better to die fighting I believe.
