Suicide is perfectly acceptable and should be a right, we should all have the choice of when we want to go. Some pain, physical or emotional is too much, or loss can be too great.
I don’t care if I could or can get better, I should be able to down some hemlock and leave.
Honestly the concept of property here is just silly. Who specifically do they belong to, why, what claim, and how could such a claim exist?
I just don’t agree with the concept, this individual doesn’t have any right to ownership regardless of whether his specific family owned it at some point prior, but most likely a direct relative doesn’t even own it, just someone with his self same ‘race’ ( which race doesn’t really exist either tbh, not genetically anyway, but exists as a social construct ).
I just despise this mentality. I don’t own anything collectively with anyone of my ‘race’, neither their achievements nor shames, and same for even direct relatives.
There is not enough generic diversity in humans to even prop up the idea of race beyond being a cultural construct, it’s time to stop seeing our fellow humans as something other.
Brilliant comment, I’m dead serious.
They can fly? I know they have wings, but I’ve never seen one fly, I assumed they were evolutionarily vestigial.
It’s because it is the result of the action, like a drawing. We just don’t say a built, or a drawn. I’m not sure why we used the gerand in English, but we do.
I’m honestly, honestly convinced that the villification of centrism and liberalism on both leftist and right political ideology is designed to increase disagreement and prevent compromise on political issues, likely for people to focus on race or politics over class issues, or to prevent good faith discussion of issues to prevent social progress.
I know, without a doubt this will be voted down, but I’m actually asking you to think about this critically before both political extremes go down the authoritarian route and it becomes too late to actually unify people to rationale and true dialectics.
Same thing happened to me, I even made my own screenshot so your post was meta IRL
I was shot at once, and in the moment, you’re not sure that you haven’t been shot. Sometimes you can be in shock and not know because of adrenaline, it’s a real thing. It’s hard to explain how things happen in the moment.
I was once on a second story and watched the trees jump into the air, only understanding after a few seconds that what happened was the floor collapsed and I fell to the ground. Life doesn’t afford the ability to process things well when they happen quickly.
I think some of y’all have never had a nut or anything drop on top of your car before, but it absolutely can sound alarming enough to, in the context of a high stress situation, be interpreted by your brain as a potential shot in the same way a busted engine can.
To be clear, I think this is far more likely than most people are willing to understand, and this gets lost in the ‘all cops bad’ narrative.
I make the exact argument all the time and it gets ignored. I think people fundamentally don’t understand the tech and can’t conceptualize that AI models train the same way we get ideas and schemas from our own observations.
I literally listened to this in Discord with people three days ago. Terrible song, but of the memories.
Undoubtedly going to be Elon Musk vs Jeff Bezos
I don’t think this is whataboutism, and actually, even if it is, you’re using it to deflect a good point. All things that could be considered ‘war crimes’ should be investigated for all parties.
It’s called being fair, and it’s a reasonable position.
Yes, it’s not just light, it’s better to understand it as an ejection of super heated plasma. It is mass ( actually called a coronal mass ejection ) and maybe kinda comparable in ELI5 concept to a volcano eruption.
To do so would make you impure, and impurity demands punishment
You’re not allowed to 3D print your own figures.
I’m actually, honestly enjoying this more. Yes, pretty much every niche community I joined has died now, and that’s unfortunate, but it’s quite certainly alive anyway.
Reminds me a bit of earlier Digg, and the culture here varies a lot but I see a wide range of political opinion and cultural frames of reference compared to what Reddit was, which was a near monoculture.
I prefer this not being guided by a single company.
Of course there are solutions other than genocide, it all just comes down to the timescale available. I do unfortunately think that the situation is urgent now, but on a longer timescale it could look like China’s one child policy, or programs with incentives for voluntary birth control access, maybe even sterilization.
There are lots of ways to solve this that range from completely or questionably moral, to socially responsible and planned. I care about the long term survival of the human race, and the rest of the planet, I could absolutely be talked into putting that far ahead of my own well-being depending on the circumstances.
Eh, it’s more like our definition of what a planet is changed. I still think of Pluto as a planet.
