The prevailing attitude on Lemmy seems to be that Israel should be wiped from the face of the earth. Comments that don’t support the protesters are quite rare.

It’s good that you are willing to acknowledge that. A lot of people on here truly reject the concept that the situation is more complicated than “stop supporting Israel”. People are quick to spout that without thinking about the knock-on effects.

There are even people on here who are outright in support of Hamas, an oppressive Islamist group that has a far worse human rights record than Israel.

Lemmy users don’t understand nuance. “Israel bad” is all they understand.

There is one significant difference: Hamas does not, as far as I know, have any nuclear weapons.

I’ll believe it when I stop getting only rejection letters for entry level jobs.

When people of good conscience are forced to support a literal genocide because of how broken our system is…

I pity the rest of you who would choose complacency and the path of least resistance over doing what’s right.

Associating Joe Biden so closely with genocide demonstrates a lack of capacity for understanding nuance. Supporting Israel doesn’t automatically equate to supporting Netanyahu’s genocide in Gaza, but it does indicate support for the Israeli (and by extension, Jewish) right to exist. One can simultaneously protest the genocide in Gaza and support a friendly, cooperative Israel.

Sounds like you got your daily dopamine hit. You should probably take a break from social media until you’ve calmed down.

Let me rewrite this headline:

“Democrats would rather elect a literal Nazi than Joe Biden”

Which is bull, but essentially what the article is saying.

If you won’t vote for Biden because of Gaza, you are an ignorant, narrow-minded idiot and you are handing Trump the presidency.

They’re also victims of Hamas’ war crimes, because using civilians as shields and conducting military operations from civilian locations are also war crimes. If Hamas can even be accused of such, being a terror organization rather than a legitimate government.

Everyday Palestinians = Hamas’ meat shields.

Of course, anyone who has been watching Hamas for the last decade knows that they routinely lie about civilian casualties while simultaneously using them as meat shields.

While you’re at it, write an executive order dissolving Congress and establishing the President as a dictator. It’s an “official act” so it should be fine, right?

Id point out that the crazy right-wingers likely have more guns and ammo but less actual training than ordinary conservatives.

But by you talking about “the media” I guess you are trying to find reasons to further your already present distrust in any media that contradicts your beliefs?

Hard to see how that couldn’t be meant as, at best, a passive-aggressive dig, implying some level of instability or paranoia.

“The media” is a common term in American English that refers to mainstream news outlets. I said I felt gaslit because the early headlines and articles on this topic suggested that names were made visible, not that they were merely added to accounts.

Regardless, there is no call for personal attacks. I’m sure you can find the maturity to respond to comments you disagree with in ways that don’t involve attacking the users who post them.

I went to my Glassdoor account and the only place I could see my name was in the community part, where people ask questions of other professionals. Some users still seemed to have their names hidden, so it must be possible to do so. My company reviews are still anonymous.

I honestly can’t find any evidence that what the media are saying is happening is actually happening. I feel gaslit tbh lol
