Boomer moment: I’m 30 but never got used to the feeling of modern smartphones against out ears. It’s terrible and I can never hear or be heard well enough. It’s to a point where I always answer in speakerphone or with headphones, facilitated by not answering the phone often. Recently I’ve been wishing to get an old phone-like accessory for my smartphone so I could do calls in a comfortable way.

… Then again, during covid I learned to answer phones around the lab on speakerphone, too, and these were classic-style phones. So maybe I’m a lost cause

Edit: old cellphones were fine, it’s just smartphones that have the worst possible shape and texture to hold them against my ear. Sadly, my parents still see that as the primary use for a phone.

Man, I know people dislike Macron, and I still think his handling of the Le Penn situation last year was a dramatic misplay, but I’ve always had a huge amount of respect for him. Maybe because I don’t live in France (although I was almost accepted into a job there earlier this year!), but he seems like such a role model in terms of political leadership. Yeah I also don’t understand this part. Can the antibodies targeting the bare spike protein attach to it despite the presence of the sugars? Or are there a few spike proteins in the virus which do not have the sugars, not enough to effectively develop antibodies but enough for already existing antibodies to attach to?

You know, as someone outside the US, I was pretty confident in this election. Harris seemed like a candidate that could stand against Trump in a way that Hillary Clinton never was. I had stopped worrying and even thought the people here were being dramatic in thinking Trump was actually going to get reelected.

I think Sonic Adventure can be a frustrating game. I confess it has some issues that I have learned to work around. But I still can’t see it as anything less than a great game that gets way more hate than it deserves.

The first Sims was in fake 3D, the 2nd one was already full 3D. The fourth one is known for being a huge downgrade when compared to 3 and even 2. I haven’t played 4 a lot but people really hate it, a lot of the community stayed on 3. It doesn’t help that EA is EA, and while the whole series has always had expansion packs and extra purchaseable content, with 3 already being a bit unreasonable, The Sims 4 took it to unimaginable heights. I think buying everything will set you back like 1500 USD or more, and it was super criticized for slicing up content into multiple packs. They even have DLC for DLC, with a content pack only having content for another pack…
