I guess you just need to document and escalate anything objectively wrong that they do. If it’s a one party consent state maybe you can record it, but I never experimented with that.

I am surprised that they didn’t just do away with it entirely. I don’t think it would have hurt their bottom line. This is somehow worse IMO. They’ll charge you more money for physical media that doesn’t even have the entire game on it. It’s like they want people to know that they’re being slapped in the face.

I am genuinely surprised that they’re suggesting physical games that act as keys for digital downloads. What is the point of getting a physical cartridge if you can’t play the whole game offline? I guess they’re just trying to kill physical media, and this is the first step in this direction.

Also, it’s good to draw it out for as long as possible. If you give a thief infinite time and resources they can break any lock, but it is still worth it to invest in security to draw out the process. The same logic applies to this. It may just be enough time to await rescue.

They are the only real family oriented console AFAIK. At least on PC, there isn’t a huge emphasis on local coop. This makes a steam deck a harder sell to people just looking for the casual family games. Nintendo on the other hand is committed to releasing games like this with every generation, and they don’t seem big on games with a restrictive age rating. I’m sure that wins points with parents.

Does it make sense? Emulation is going to happen one way or another. If Nintendo sold a GC controller that is PC compatible, they’d at least make some money from those buyers.

As far as games go, it’s still a lot. I’ve played some $20 games for hundreds of hours. Not a dealbreaker, and I’ll gladly buy the game if it looks fun. On the other hand, the games generally being expensive is not a selling point for the console.

I’m reading online that the game doesn’t even maintain 30 FPS on the switch in docked mode. That’s kind of crazy for a console game released in 2023. I get that it’s a cheaper console, but at some point, they need to bite the bullet and just manufacture something with better hardware. No wonder people are trying their hardest to emulate the switch.

I am a bit surprised that the MCU is that far off. I thought they’d have a little more respect for the source material.

Making a new OS isn’t easy as others have said, but it’s also helpful that Pebble OS has a bit of a following. There are still people who are very vocal about how much they love/loved their pebble watches. Making a new OS that’s inspired by PebbleOS would be met with more skepticism than just releasing a watch with an OS that people already know that they like.

Assuming that he made no major changes to the software, pebble fans almost already know what they’ll be getting out of this product. You couldn’t say the same for a watch with a new OS.
