This actually happened like 2 days ago on Saturday

Me(m20) and my GF were on our way to go buy something to eat in the evening so we hopped in my car and started driving to chick fil a. In that route there’s a straight ahead road and a righthand turn into a neighborhood street. I have a habit of always slowing down my car at this specific stop sign, quickly checking for cars in the street ahead and then just turning right without coming to a full stop, a rolling stop if you will. This neighborhood road is always dead at this time so there’s literally never a car going down this way.

Prior to leaving my gf told me she heard what sounded like gunshots and that they were too random to be fireworks but I brushed it aside. When I got to that stop sign I was slowing down and I was on the verge of just immediately turning right when I saw a cop just spawn out of seemingly nowhere to the other stop sign cause that street is a 3 way stop. I quickly braked, not too hard but I know you could tell it looked like I wasn’t going to stop.

I made eye contact with the cop and kind of just gave him this little hand motion like “I’m sorry”, I was half expecting him to just turn the lights and sirens on but he just looked at me and shook his head in disappointment and then went off. Turns out I guess what my GF heard were gunshots because there were a ton of police cars in one area and cars were stopped, I guess the cop had more important matters to attend to so I got off lucky because even though I stopped I kind of ended up a bit past the stop sign line so I’m pretty sure that would have been enough to pull me over.

I kinda think the cops look of disappointment hurt me more than a ticket would have ngl.

TLDR; I tend to do a lot of rolling stops at this one specific stop sign in my neighborhood and almost did it in front of a cop who showed up outta nowhere. Gave me a look of disappointment, shook his head and went off to join other cops in a shoot out or something. Got lucky
