Democrats on the congressional Joint Economic Committee released a report Thursday detailing how much more the average American family in every US state is having to spend monthly to cover the rising costs of food, shelter, energy, and other necessities under the leadership of President Donald Trump. The panel released its report on the same day the Trump administration was supposed to…

    That’s a lot of money.

I mean that’s about 12k pre tax to afford the 8.4k increase in costs. 18% of the median income in just increases, not total costs!

How are most people able to swing that if the median income is 66k ?

So you know how there’s the story of the underage girl prostituting herself to a congressperson for money for braces?

Exploitation. That’s how people are intended, nay, expected, to ‘swing it.’

Invading Venezuela, giving cash to Argentina and golfing are the top priorities. I hope the Red Oblasts get hit the hardest.

Like Iraq, like Libya, like Syria, invading Venezuela has bipartisan support. The most you see from the dems are technical nitpicks about the way Trump is pursuing hostilities. Not one said “we should end the blockade and resume trade with Venezuela”.

Uh uh, no no! You’re WRONG!

There is also the white House remodeling that costs some 200 250 300 million dollars for a useless ballroom that Cheeto MC fatty will name after himself.

Sorry, just wanted to point that out.

No we’re not. My family can’t afford to spend $700 more a month on groceries, so we just don’t get many groceries anymore. Ramen is making a comeback in this household in a big way.

Yeah, instant ramen and Hamburger Helper sales have exploded in recent months, which is extremely concerning. But don’t worry guys, the TV told me the economy has never been better!

let’s play a game: which will come first? civil unrest, 2% interest rates or midterm elections?

we’re not the only ones playing that game.

I wonder what my distant uncle who said Trump made him richer would think about this. I think he was referring to the three tiny stimulus checks he got during the pandemic. Oh well, he voted for this.

Those three fucking checks are why we’re here in the first place. It added trillions in debt to us, gave people “free” money during a time of low rates, and then put in place the giant rubber-band that is inflation because when you have that much money suddenly injected in the market capitalism dictates that you raise prices since people can afford it.

I was saying this is going to fuck us when trump did them the first time and yet still people act like Biden is the one that put us here.

Yeah it was those three checks, and not the massive block and categorical stimulus to states and corporations that dwarfed those up to 10x in size (and actually led to a fairly soft landing post Covid.)

Get this shit lib stuff out of here. And you’re not even that good at it. From a shit lib perspective, those actually made the situation not so bad. Trumps trade wars, foreign policy and gestapo are why we are here today. Full stop.

You sound like a confused paint eating MAGA

$800b in personal stimulus>4-5T in corporate and government stimulus, per you… wtaf

Never said those other things aren’t what helped get us here. That’s why I gave the broader number of trillions and not just billions.

Also, you’re calling me a MAGA when you’re the one actively defending a trump policy and decision… I’ve got two years of profile history that shows I’m not MAGA, you’ve been on here 5 days.

When you give out “free” money whether to people or to corporations and you don’t continue it and only do it as a one time you effectively create inflation. Lots of people NEEDED money during the pandemic, and I’m not against that. It’s the culmination of multiple government hand outs to people and corporations with no active thought put into what they’re trying to do that creates a loaded system.

It’s a fucking comment thread my dude. I’m not diving in with whole ass articles and a research paper just to make some fucking thread noob happy because he think I’m someone I’m not.

Yeah no mention to massive block and categorical grants to states to make up for the 43% loss in revenue. But $1800 (800b) caused it. And not the trade wars, gestapo ICE or tariffs.

          Gtfoh with this shit

Deploying the same methodology that Republicans used to track cost increases under former President Joe Biden, JEC Democrats found that the average US family is spending roughly $700 more per month on basic items since Trump took office in January, pledging to bring prices “way down.”

Smart to use their methodology. That way they can’t call it flawed. Well they can but they’ll sound stupid
