      Yes, use HA, an rPi or VM and roll your own smart home locally. You can do quite a lot, but you need to put in a little effort. Worth it.

        Not satisfied with the responsiveness of HA on a pi. I used an old Intel NUC. Not as energy efficient, but everything is instantaneous. Good stuff.

          My 7 year old Dell SFF idles at marginally higher power than my Pi zero W. I’ll take the trade off.
