I REALLY dislike this kind of attitude.
Spotify is probably one of the biggest tech companies that most Americans rely on for a daily basis so we can’t just give up on it. If you give up on a company for (in this case, relatively/very minor) reliance on certain practices, you won’t have any companies to rely on as an alternative at all.
they use their close-to-monopoly stance to squeeze every cent out of their company while paying their artists (without whom they’d be irrelevant) next to nothing for clicks which goes to labels first and then to the creators. they’re just another middleman in the whole process.
small artists especially don’t get paid until a certain number of clicks. but they realized ai slop gets clicks and instead of actively doing something about it the front page is flooded with soulless trash.
it’s a shareholder company so their business praxis is just: bigger black number good - smaller black number: bad - red number: fuck everyone - as is with every business - they just look how many corners they can cut without losing too many subsribers.
spotify doesn’t view music as any art form - it’s just commodified content

why do you defend a company that is known for ghoulish business praxis? lol idc if it’s european if it fucks over small artists.
What ghoulish practices do they have?

And if a European company doesn’t do this, an American company will.
We should stick to Spotify simply because it is European.
