Oh no, our prodigal son!
America will balkanize along the boundaries of where you’re allowed to watch Jimmy Kimmel or not.
color revolution but the popular figure they unite around is jimmy kimmel
They’re just gonna re-air the 11 o’clock news? Also, people can just watch Kimmel on Disney+ if they want, it’s not like Sinclair has a real gatekeeping power here.
i guess its more that Sinclair is asserting itself as the authority over the affiliates from programming choices made by the mothership, which is probably true in an immediate sense, but i gotta wonder if sinclair thinks their audience gives a shit about their local production segments on “Which WalMart Has the Best Deal for Back to School Supplies” or 10 minutes of B-roll footage of a middle school parking lot while Chip “Haircut” Powers does voice over about a fire in a trashcan MORE than the actual multi-billion dollar spectacle machines of NY and LA.
i don’t watch tv anymore and neither does anyone i know under the age of 150 unless they’re in the waiting room of a car repair shop, so im eager to see this fight go 12 rounds and end in an execution.
Yeah I get the sneaking suspicion that if this turns into a long term fight, the biggest impact will just be to accelerate the irrelevance of network TV.
Who watches late night talk shows on streaming services, though? Kimmel’s biggest demographic probably doesn’t know how to change the input.
Kimmel’s biggest demographic probably doesn’t know how to change the input.
his biggest demo is supposedly 18-49, who probably can change the input. Colbert and Fallon is what the olds watch.
Damn, that’s super weird to me.
