In the end it would be “interesting” to see how the army performs, it is better equipped than the Taliban imo (fighter jets, rocket launchers, guns). And the border regions to Columbia are hard to control.
decently equipped on paper. local ammo production facilities. some drones, and plenty of infantry portable anti-air and anti-tank gear. they also have hundreds of modernized self-tracking russian 40mm AA guns, which seem like they would be useful against drone attacks. the biggest factor in a protracted campaign is the massive popular militia. most use pretty outdated rifles but a singificant number have been equipped with full light infantry kit.
