Microsoft), but because people are willing to spend their own money to buy a product marketed as an “AI-powered voice assistant” instead of an “always-on surveillance mic”

On the store shelf it will be called an "AI-powered voice assistant” because branding still matters. At shareholder meetings or for the WSJ they’ll openly call it an “always-on surveillance mic” because they don’t need to hide.
