The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on Tuesday (22.07.25), just weeks after he took to the stage for a final performance with his band in Villa Park, Birmingham. I mean, that’s a distinction that very few bands have. Not to mention that they were very anti-war in their messaging (even if that old fuck Ozzy became a Zionist) and they were very prolific with a ridiculously solid catalogue, like The Smiths level of consistent quality.
I don’t mean this to be dismissive at all, creating a subgenre is crazy particularly for fans of the genre/subgenre, but is that all?
From what I know heavy metal is pretty niche, but it seems like he’s praised as if he’s a global icon?
Was he a “Cash-like” figure? Who fought for causes, like prison reform and native American rights in Johnny’s case?
