Karen Bass: "It's felt in LA like we're part of a grand experiment. How far will the public tolerate the federal government intervening and seizing power from a governor? I think it's being tried out here."
In a lengthy exchange, with ICE Deputy Field Director Bill Joyce, Reps Nadler and Goldman are denied the ability to visit the 10th floor. Joyce says it’s not a detention facility it’s just a place ppl are housed for several days w/out beds.

I know the dems love their performative shit but they are making me insane. If the dems were an actual opposition party - Nadler and Goldman would have gone there with armed federal agents with long guns who big, burly, ideally enormous and look mean as rattlesnakes. And Nadler and Goldman would say to that doofus - do not block our way or you will be thrown to the ground and cuffed. Here we go…
I wonder if they want to appear weak on purpose to bolster the “vote harder” case they will make. Its an awful strategy because anyone can look at what these elected Dems are failing to do and go “why do I want more of that?”
I wouldn’t be surprised if the quasi-official plan of many dems in state government is to “play dead” and let Trump (and the GOP) “go too far”. Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi, etc keep saying “We must keep our powder dry” and “we must choose our battles” and “Do not let Trump distract you!” I think DC dems are actually utilizing the play dead strategy and they all say to themselves “I am very smart.” It’s insane.
