Star Trek: Strange New World's showrunners are quietly campaigning for a project that would, in a way, keep the series going even after it ends with season 5.
I think Goldsman’s actual statement is pretty vague - he could easily mean a spinoff with the non-TOS cast. Just redress the sets and you’re off to the races.
Hey—I got an idea for that third thing—how about we start a new spin-off from SNW, with another crew and a different ship, and then maybe at the end of say, season 2, they jump like 900 years into the future, which would give the producers a sort of clean slate but with a solid foundation, and then, start other spin off from tha… oh wait
That would be hilarious. Wolf Hall but technically in the Star Trek universe. 10 normal episodes per season, but once it twice a time traveler randomly shows up.

He could also mean a movie, or…some third thing.
And in any case, he’s moving on with his career.
It’s cool that they’re excited about possibilities, but I remain very skeptical that there’s any actual traction there.

Jump 900 years into the past and do a period costume drama.
